5. It won't be safe. The pissed off people there know how much scrutiny this event will receive and there is just too much potential for trouble. Fuck Iran and Ahmadenijad and his presidency of OPEC.

Wait, are you saying that the uprising is actually Iranian backed?

Because the only people saying that that I've seen are the Royal Family.... and we all know how much they're being truthful in this whole situation.

The Royal family is making those claims, or at least had been.

Iran has interest in fomenting unrest there. Oman as well. You think they just sit back and accept the presence of a US fleet hq there? Iranian backed or not is immaterial to what is being talked up here. And they only thing officially backed by the Saudis are the Khalifas.

Dunno what you mean by the uprising being Saudi backed, unless you know of private sector money and influence.

The minority rulers of Bahrain had Saudi forces come into the country to help crush the rebellion.

That is what I said. Or meant, sorry for any confustication. The Saudi's have a history of sending in the cavalry when the Kalifa's need some muscle.

Good point by PlanetF1: Stefano is on the WMSC board, and they voted unanimously to reinstate the race, so the teams aren't united on not going soley on Ferrari's end alone.

 Bernie gets sold out by the FIA.

Having clear knowledge that the teams were unwilling to move India from its October 30 slot and that they did not want the calendar expanded into December, Ecclestone asked the FIA as late as Thursday that he wanted to move Bahrain to become the season finale.

In a detailed chronology of the events surrounding the Bahrain GP saga that was published on the FIA website, it reported that on June 9 (Thursday): "The commercial rights holder (FOWCL) proposed to the FIA that the GP of Bahrain be rescheduled for 4 December, with the GP of India reinstated on its original date of 30 October.

"The FIA replied the same day, asking FOWCL to provide guarantees that any new date proposal is acceptable both to the teams and to the organisers in Bahrain."

Jenson to Ferrari?

McLaren are set to offer Jenson Button a new lucrative contract in a bid to keep Ferrari away from the 2009 Champion.

Reports this weekend claim that Ferrari are eager to sign Button as Fernando Alonso's new 2012 team-mate, replacing the beleaguered Felipe Massa.

According to the News of the World tabloid, a source at Maranello revealed that there has been "a lot of talk" at Ferrari about securing Button's services.

The Ferrari source said: "They (Ferrari) have already checked to see if he would be available.

"The team realise they need a stronger partner for Fernando Alonso than Felipe Massa if they want to win the title again."

An Englishmen in a Ferrari again? Like whoa...Not since Mansell. But I doubt Button would make that move. Ferrari has a history of making no.2 drivers and Button wouldn't be kosher with that.

As much as it's been called "Lewis' Team", McLaren has a history of driver equality. Ferrari more or less admits to having No 1 and No 2 drivers, as evidenced by last year, and I also doubt Jens will put up with that.

But it's a fantastic bargaining chip for his position at McLaren.

But who woulda seen McLaren and Ferrari fighting over Jens a few years ago when he was backmarking in the miserable Honda Earth thing?

Got to shake Jens' hand in Sepang back in the days when he was a Williams driver making wise-cracks about Ralf being a homo :o

Anyway I just don't see this much more than exactly what Nacho said, a bargaining chip for position and a higher pay at McLaren. Lewis has been stirring the pot by visiting Horner for lunch so Jens needs to do do the same so he doesn't get the short end of the stick when contract renewal time comes around.
