Sutil or Jamie in the other seat would be ideal...

I still don't see the hype on that guy.

Additionally, we all know his $16 mil paycheck got him that seat, so he's no better than Pastor.

As a dude who grew up with acne in his early teens to early adult life...that hurt! :fawk:

(but it's true :o)

Hopefully he doesn't pull a Bruce & Brandon Lee act in that Williams... :noes:

Their careers are remarkably similar (HRT/Toleman, Renault, Williams)...without the success of course. :mamoru:

That's because one used talent, while the other is using money and a borrowed name.

Senna's been confirmed at Williams.

Boo.

Barichello deserved to stay.

Although, being the cash strapped team that Williams is these days I guess it makes sense.

Who's in the other seat? Malanado?

And I disagree w/ Rubens deserving the seat...he's good, not great. Other drivers deserve their chance now...I just don't know if Senna is consistent enough to meet those criterias (other than the money...).

Yup.

Unless I'm mistaken, that makes Williams the only 100% Pay Driver team on the grid.

PS: I read somewhere that it'll be possible for Schumi to take Rubens' career length record if he stays in a couple seasons more. :o

If Rubens was still competitive, I'd say he should say, but after 19 seasons and not really doing anything the past couple, it's time to give someone else a chance...

Glad Senna got the drive, finally a real season for the kid...

2011 Season points totals:
Rubens - 19 years in F1 = 4 points
Pastor - 1 year in F1 = 1 point

Rubens isn't exactly doing a ton more than Pastor at the team...

It's not like Frank is lining his pockets with this driver money, it is immediately reinvested into the team.

Frank's job isn't to hire the fastest drivers available, it's to field the fastest team possible. I'm not an expert at running a F1 team, but I'm guessing that would be really hard if Williams was out of business.

Good point :o How far have they fallen...I think the better idea for them is to start investing in other business avenues besides just racing. It's apparent in this day and age that this just does not work. Like the old addage says, "If you want to a small fortune in racing, start with a large fortune." :hs:

I'd argue that his goal isnt to field the fastest team but to score the most WCC points. But yes, no way to score points if your car is a HRT, or worse, out of business.

Bruno's reported 20 mil is more than Pastor's reported 15....

Even HRT, Virgin and Caterham/Lotus aren't fielding pay drivers in both seats...

This is Williams, and the only reason this double pay driver junk isn't being universally derided is that one of them happens to share a name with the popular vote for best driver in memory (I'd still argue that Fangio was better), as if his family name meant anything to his ability.

If this was Nelson Piquet Jr, Nicholas Prost, or Marco Andretti buying a seat with his family name and subsequent money, I doubt there would be nearly as much cheering.
