To be fair, he lucked into the podium with the safety car period, but his pace while leading, and even after being passed by Hamilton, was impressive.

Certainly Massa never looked like catching and / or passing.

kimi never touched the kid, the folder was what hit the kid.

What is it about people throwing themselves at Kimi Raikkonen these days?

The world champion, having (quite literally) forced off the attentions of an unwanted photographer on the Silverstone grid two weeks ago, appeared to be the unwitting victim of more flying humanity in the Hockenheim paddock.

Having just arrived through the gates, Raikkonen strode towards the Ferrari motorhome when a mother and child apparently approached him for an autograph.

So desperate was the woman for Kimi's moniker that she batted the unfortunate infant clean off her feet.

Kimi, slightly bemused, and this time clearly not at fault, selected Iceman mode and marched purposefully on - with the woman still in pursuit apparently oblivious to the child's fate.

Raikkonen must be wondering what an earth is going to come flying at him next.

How does this make you feel Kimi crew? The idea that Massa is simply more talented than the Iceman.

'If Raikkonen does leave Ferrari, he will leave formula one. Where else would he want to go? He might even devote more time to his snowmobile racing. It would be a terrible waste. But perhaps his mood has been further darkened by the realisation that he is up against somebody whose talent for driving a racing car at immense speeds with exceptional skill is even greater than his own.'

not necessarily his teammate.

Ok, here's how it begins:

After being out-qualified again by Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa...

I'm pretty sure they're talking about Massa.

The secret of McLaren's run of pace in the last weeks may have been revealed by a British newspaper.

A technical report published on the Daily Telegraph website said back-to-back Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton, and his teammate Heikki Kovalainen, are making use of a unique four-paddle steering wheel.

With the conventional two paddles for changing gears, the extra two paddles allow the drivers to easily select different engine torque settings throughout the course of a lap, the renowned writer Mark Hughes claimed.

The solution could be allowing McLaren drivers to limit wheelspin under acceleration out of corners, thus making canny use of the new-for-2008 ban on traction control.

"This is part of McLaren's current performance superiority over Ferrari," Hughes added.

Why not make that a selectable knob on the steering wheel? At least you can select which power setting you want immediately rather than cycling thru your different options of power settings...I'd like to see a picture of these extra paddles. Also, there are already 4 paddles, 2 for shifts, 2 for clutch...so did they add 2 more paddles on top of that? Maybe they have a selector on their wheel to change between "clutch" and "power"

Interesting!

thats what they (all the teams) have already. some sort of electronic engine map adjustment. i think the extra paddles would be to shift the engine map 'up' or 'down' depending on corner, just like how teams have the brake bias adjustment lever, except you never take your hands off the wheel. the driver knows the certain number of 'clicks' needed up or down for each corner. the only reason that bias adjustment system isnt on the steering wheel (by paddle or selector knob) is because the regs stipulate that the bias adjustment has to be done via a mechanical linkage.

BMW Sauber mechanic injured after KERS shock

A BMW Sauber mechanic has been injured after suffering an electric shock, whilst the German-Swiss team were trying out their Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) during testing at Jerez on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the squad’s test driver Christian Klien returned to the pits in the modified F1.07C following an initial installation run at the Spanish circuit.

“During testing of the KERS car at the Jerez track this morning, there was an incident involving a mechanic,” a BMW Sauber spokesman explained. “When the car returned to the pits, he touched it and suffered an electric shock. He sustained slight injuries to his left hand and grazing on his left arm.”
