Alonso to Honda story hard to believe, especially salary
Wait what?
edit: Whoa...I dont' see this happening. With Ross Brawn, sure they have a car. But a WDC car? To turn it around that fast? Eh...
Honda would want a two-year deal however...
Fernando Alonso is set to sign a $15m deal to race with Honda in 2009, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
The former double world champion is keen to return to winning ways as soon as possible following his disastrous McLaren tenure in 2007 and a return to the relatively uncompetitive Renault team this year.
But he may not see Honda, the Japanese owned squad, as a long-term employer, as speculation still reigns that the 27-year-old faces an open door to switch to Ferrari perhaps in 2010.
The Guardian said veteran racer Rubens Barrichello would be the one to make way for Alonso in 2009.
"Fernando is a wonderful driver who would be a fantastic asset to any of the top teams, including this one," said team Chief Executive Nick Fry.
"The job Ross and I have is to build a world championship-winning team," he added.

the tides are turning around again, especially for the '09 regs where there will be a re-emergence of these mechanical thinkers like ross brawn and patrick head at the sharp end. teams that have become too aero-centric like RBR might drop back in the fieldWait what?

in other words, i wouldn't rule it out..

That means I can cheer for Williams! TBH, I'm a "Honda-boi" at heart the way Skyliner is a Toyota sack-rider
Plus, Pat Symonds would be part of that "thinkers" group that you mentioned IMO...so staying at Renault would still be the better option IMO. Unless Honda says straight up "Alonso is our No. 1 man..."
I still think FA to Ferrari is his next move, considering how the Iceman is driving right now.

"I think I drove well. I didn't make any mistakes. I just had a puncture. I brought the car home as safe as possible and scored as many points as I could, so there's not much more you can ask for.
"It's just unfortunate I was the one to get a puncture, and it was a case of 'oh no, not again.' I had it three times last year, or whatever it was, and that's what really lost me the championship.
Whatever makes him sleep better at night....*cough "CHINA BITCH" *cough

Everything he said is true, if he had one less puncture he would have won the championship. And the China thing would have happened to any driver that went from a dry track to a wet pit lane with no tires.
All aboard the Hammy Hate Train to nowhere I guess.

Race car drivers, fighter pilots, rock stars...they all have something in common: self-confidence. you do what you do, to maintain that self-confidence. When that is shaken, you get the hell outta dodge...sure, he might've fallen off the road in China, but you blame the other factors that take your WDC outta contention...

Hammy Hate train to nowhere is necessary to counter the Anne Coulter-ish hammy blanket of total infallibility.

alonso would be a fool to go to honda. he should just stay with renault.
I agree with both of these points.Woobens has outscored Jensen 11-3 so far, how can they get rid of Woobens?
Anyone else hear the speed guys talking about Emo getting locked into next year at renault if they come in 4th or better in constructors? Only 4 points behind toyota

Honestly, I'd want Massa to move to Honda to replace Rubens, Alonso to Ferrari along with Kimi, Nico to BMW along with Kubica. After that, don't really care who goes where...
