Well so there are a few explosions last night and as many of you will know from the news reports it was fired from RPGs (M-79) the death toll from this attack ranges between 1-3 people depending on which news agency you follow. The numbers of injured are in the 40s-50s, but shell shock is currently being considered as a form of injury by the news and media.
My honest opinion the intensity that is being reported ranges from one day to the next, even the residents are informed on varying degrees of danger from one day to the next. My Office is right around the corner from the main zone they have occupied, and I'm growing pretty frustrated by all this as I just want to know if my team can make it to work or not as we're having problems keeping up to date and on schedule with our projects. There seems to be no real inherent danger during the day time, most the shit goes down in the evening, but that hasn't stopped a larger number of my staff from missing work.
My political opinion is that both sides are morons who are incapable of accomplishing anything what so ever. All the political leaders on both sides are puppets of some bigger hidden figure. Both side no longer have any substantial valid arguments for their actions and are just putting this economy further into the depths of hell.
I've grown tired of updating on FB every time I hear something that I consider substantial, as NOTHING happens.
The explosions were a rogue attack, but by whom we don't really know. It was a real show of restraint by the military stationed in that area to not fire back at the red shirt camps (source of RPG attack), as any show of force by both sides will result in the mass confrontation that is boiling just below the surface.
I will update again if something substantial comes up, and if I see any F1 drivers in town I will also be sure to take pics and post.

I think we Americans can relate to both sides of a government being completely retarded and inept, we just haven't had people die because of that stupidity in 40 years.

Glad that you're ok.

I totally didn't mean to use the
Anywho, glad to hear you're okay Jeff. As much as our gov't sucks donkey balls on both sides (and no one can disagree with me there) the one good thing is that for the most part, we can remain civil about it. Keep your ass safe bro.

Turbo-era engines were 1.5L and capable of 1500hp in quali trim. I guess the 670 is a conservative estimate at how much power they could extract and still meet the reliability to last for a few races. Even then the FIA would have to impose maximum boost pressure limits (the Honda RA168E at a limited 2.5bar boost was high 600hp range I think). Any more than 1.5L would be too dangerous IMO.They'r talking bout 1.5L turbocharged engines producing 670hp. Really? Why so low

1.5L V6s tho... I have a feeling these will be 4cyl 1.5s

Wait, why not?So if they're turbos next year, no more over-head intake scoop?

Wait, why not?
Just thinking engineering - the turbo would sit low for weight distribution as well as next to the exhaust manifold. That would mean the inlet would come in from the side, no? I don't see the inlet piping it from the top.

I would think the intakes would return to the top of the sidepods like this Ferrari F1/87 (beautiful car IMO).Just thinking engineering - the turbo would sit low for weight distribution as well as next to the exhaust manifold. I think they'd still use the top scoop, as it'll still tend to bring in smoother, cooler, and cleaner air than a side intake.Just thinking engineering - the turbo would sit low for weight distribution as well as next to the exhaust manifold. I'd be more embarrassed about being .4 off of half's pace than getting beat by a woman

And you'd have to have some sort of obstruction above the drivers head for rollover purposes anywayI think they'd still use the top scoop, as it'll still tend to bring in smoother, cooler, and cleaner air than a side intake.

True, but longer intake path to a turbo = poorer response. Response is everything in F1, more so than ultimate power - and F1 isn't about ultimate power anyways - me thinks the scoops are going to be like what Doublemeat posted.
However, the top scoop would be perfect for an intercooler...

Longer IC piping should have more of an effect on response than a longer track from open air to the turbo.True, but longer intake path to a turbo = poorer response. Fernando Alonso has had his thumbs insured by personal sponsor Santander, after striking a new deal with the Spanish banking giant on Monday.
In a press conference held in Madrid, the company announced a new one-year deal with the Ferrari driver, who will now be also sponsored by Santander's insurances branch.
He was already sponsored by the banking branch of the group.
During the event, Santander said it had given Alonso a life and accident insurance, with special coverage for his thumbs, worth 10 million euro.
"Alonso's thumbs are a big symbol as, apart from being essential when driving a Formula 1 car, they represent a sign of victory and that everything is under control and well protected," said Santander in a statement.
Vettel's finger doesnt have shit on Alonso's thumbs
