According to the latest speculation in Italy, there may be more than meets the eye to Takuma Sato's Toro Rosso evaluation test later this month.

In a statement released by the Faenza based team this week, Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost lauded the 31-year-old Japanese as a "good fit with the Red Bull spirit," while Sato's "recent F1 experience would be undoubtedly valuable to our team."

But according to the Italian rumours, repeated in the pages of Switzerland's Motorsport Aktuell, Toro Rosso may also be interested in Sato's connections with the Japanese manufacturer Honda.

Sato, who since 2002 has raced for Jordan, BAR and Super Aguri, has always been powered in Formula One by the marque's engines.

The Toro Rosso-Honda rumour is surprising, given the Red Bull junior team's impressive recent performances with Ferrari's customer V8.

On the other hand, perhaps it will open the door for senior team Red Bull Racing, currently struggling with Renault power, to take over Toro Rosso's Ferrari contract.

Ferrari just wants to give Sato a chance to find his feet again before hiring him in 2010 to win the WDC.

i love how redbull dumped ferrari engines down to Toro Rosso in 2007 now its a must for them. while toro rosso was using the terrible cosworth v10s from 2005 in 2006 that would blow up every few laps.

or that mightve been the williams :bowrofl:

Q: To all of you: what is on your i-Pod?

KN: Any kind of music but most of it is Japanese pop. Since I came to Europe, I especially tend to listen more to Japanese songs, maybe to remind me of home.

SV: Any kind really, German folk songs are my favourite. Anything really, a bit of everything.

KR: Mostly Finnish music, all sorts. You wouldn't know, so it doesn't matter what I say.

NK: Yeah, similar to the others, a lot of different stuff, not a lot of classic stuff. No German folk music, more in the direction of R&B, hip-hop, not so much techno, more chill-out but various stuff.

SV: Why don't you like folk songs?

NK: Why do you like it, that's more difficult to answer, I think?

SV: I like the lyrics.

NK: I like the smile on the singers' faces, just like yours

Sebastian Vettel is to get his first taste of the Red Bull Racing RB4 since being confirmed as their 2009 driver when he tests for the team at Jerez in Spain later this month.

The German already has experience of the car, having been drafted in for a test at Barcelona in February when he stood in for the injured David Coulthard.

However, he will be given a two day run at Jerez on September 17 and 18 to get acclimatised to his new team and the Renault engine and electronics that he will use in 2009 before returning to Toro Rosso for the remainder of the season.

Vettel's future teammate Mark Webber says he is excited about the arrival of the German, who has received a lot of interest since his strong performance in Valencia.

"You talk about short memories in F1," said Webber. "He (Vettel) had how many first lap shunts at the start of the season. Two or three good races and here we are. That is the reality of it.

"It is good, really good, and he is a very experienced youngster. There are not many of them around. Red Bull finally have the fruits of their (young driver) programme, which is great for Red Bull Racing."

When asked if he was observing Vettel's performances closer now that he was going to be his future teammate, Webber said: "Not really. He will test the car in Jerez so it will be interesting to see how he goes there driving the same car, engine and electronics, that sort of stuff.

"But it (the real comparisons) will start in February next year. Next year is so different and I am concentrating on myself, we have enough things to do and I am trying to get as many points as I can before the end of the year."

Lewis Hamilton is finding that there's more to life than being a really, really ridiculously good driver. Like male modeling. While we don't think Lewis will make a career of it, he actually did a pretty good job posing for the new McLaren shoe line recently launched as part of its lifestyle collection. The line includes four different shoes, from a laced shoe suitable for everyday use to full driving boots. Interestingly, none of the shots show him actually wearing the shoes on his feet, but we don't think that was the point. So now we have to ask... who would win in a walk-off? Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso?

Is it me, or does he look really black in this picture? :mamoru:

Super Aguri car sold for £85,000

By Jonathan Noble Thursday, September 4th 2008, 09:32 GMT

A Super Aguri car from their debut 2006 season has sold for more than £85,000 in an auction to sell off the team's final remaining assets following their collapse this year.

The SA06, which was driven by Takuma Sato, was picked up by a Japanese buyer in the Internet auction run by SHM Smith Hodgkinson on behalf of the liquidators for Super Aguri.

SHM's Richard Mascall said: "We were absolutely delighted with the outcome. The car sold for £85,600, which is a more than respectable figure and easily more than the original reserve figure.

"It's particularly nice that it has gone to a buyer from Japan because that was Super Aguri's spiritual home, even if their base was in Oxfordshire."

Who is NK?

Not sure. That was a direct copy from the site. It has to be Kazuki Nakajima though. He was the one talking with Vettel about music in the conversation.

He added: "It is natural that guys will say, back in the day it was more dangerous, but actually what Senna and co drove, they were pussies compared to what Jack Brabham drove. The sport moves on. The real heroes were back in the 1960s and 1970s."
