I still feel worse for DC than Massa. :wtc:

David Coulthard:
"I'm pretty gutted, it's not how I wanted to end my career. I took a cautious approach into Turn one and left plenty of space for the car on the inside, but unfortunately I think Rosberg hit me though Turn two, which spun me round. I thought it would be okay, but then Nakajima ran into the front of my car and took off the front corner. I felt good on the warm up laps going to the grid, I had no problem with it being wet and I wanted to get to the chequered flag. I was going to do some doughnuts for the crowd, which is something you normally get fined for, but it didn't work out."

"I can't complain though, I've had a good career, so thank you to everyone who has supported me. Thank you also to the efforts of every member of the Red Bull Racing team for the last four years, which have been a lot of fun, I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. I've been overwhelmed by the level of support I've had from the paddock this weekend, it means a great deal to me that so many people have taken the time to say 'nice career and good luck with the future'. And, in the absence of a World Championship, I think if I can leave with that, then that's a good ending."

And his interview on Speed where he said something along the lines of 'i started my career inside of a Williams, and i ended my career in the side of a Willaims." :squint:

as much I as hate to say it because I hate him Lewis deserves the Chip, Massa's race at Silverstone and Ferarri's bullshit light system is their own fault

w3rd!

Driving off the track in second place at Malaysia - 8 points
Ferrari McBoom at Hungary - 10 points
Light system at Singapore - 10 points

Only one of those was Massa's fault. Besides Canada, what races did Hammy lose big points?

pretty much what Dr.DA said

IB timo glock gets the McLaren F1 LM bonus instead of lewis :squint:

Lewis needed to secure the WDC and the WCC for him to get the LM - better luck next time.

I think this truly shows 1 thing - the championship is on the line, pressures mounting and shit and Vettel glides by Hamilton and walks away from him when it really counted. I've never really thought it before and didnt believe it til now but he is Schumi the 2nd coming

somebody at mclaren is full of shit...

We knew we couldn't take any risks, we couldn't take any risks with Vettel, he is a young charger, we were saying to Lewis just take it easy.

We knew we were racing Glock. We came here for fifth place, we could see Glock, we had the GPS and we could see Glock coming back towards us. We had the conviction, that we were going to catch him.

But the you start to worry, 'Is it raining as hard as we think it is?', 'Are we going to catch him?' staring at the predictions and wondering whether we had got this wrong.

Obviously we told Lewis, don't worry about Vettel, Glock's on dry tyres, you are going to find him in that last lap, but you know, until you do it, you haven't done it!

Lewis kept his cool. I'm sure he was much cooler than the rest of us on the pitwall anyway.

He (Vettel) got past me and I was told I had to get in front of him, and I couldn't believe it.

I was trying my hardest to get to Vettel but he was just as quick as me, if not a little bit quicker.

Vettel capitalized on Hammy's letting Bobert by. After that, it just looked like he had more grip in the STR. Could have been driver skill or car, but you could see Hamilton struggling for grip out of every corner while that STR just put the power down and walked off.

i think that STR car has improved out of sight. Imagine if Renault and STR had of been this strong at the start of the season. poor vettel going to red bull.

I think Hamilton is a bit of a choker under pressure and was well on his way to choking again and got there through pure luck. That being said, when he is the underdog, under pressure he is at his absolute best.

Like i said before (i dunno if it was here or somewhere else), that STR is basically an McLaren (Adrian Newey design) with a Ferrari powerplant (which is good enough to have gotten speed trap toppings by Force India). That's not a slouch of a car. Especially after whatever happened mid-last season that made both Red Bull squads into real contenders and their steady improvements.

I'd agree with you. His best drives have been from expectationless situations where he shouldn't be able to do anything such as his GP2 sprint race where he passed nearly the whole field after spinning, Monaco this year when he lost a tire, and his fist few races of 07. And at Silverstone, he left the rest of the field like he was in a different racing class.

Today i' not sure that he was choking as much as he (and probably the team) were playing it arguably too safe. He lost that spot to Vettel when he went way wide for Bobert to get by (although that could have been driver error as easily as not).

Alonso set to announce Renault future

By Jonathan Noble Sunday, November 2nd 2008, 22:54 GMT

Former world champion Fernando Alonso will end speculation about his future on Wednesday when he is confirmed as Renault's lead driver for 2009.

The Spaniard has been considering his options for next year following a challenging season on a return to the French car manufacturer that helped him to world titles in 2005 and 2006.

But despite overtures from Honda Racing and BMW Sauber, Alonso has decided to remain at Renault for another season.

Renault team boss Flavio Briatore told autosport.com on Sunday night in Brazil that the team were planning to reveal their driver line-up for next year this week.

"I will confirm my drivers on Wednesday," he said. "That will be the announcement but I cannot say who the drivers will be."

Sources suggest that Brazilian Nelson Piquet is now favourite to keep the second seat - having been handed a stay of execution following a step forward in performance in recent races.

Renault test drivers Lucas di Grassi and Romain Grosjean had been linked to the second seat this season.

Briatore would not confirm speculation about Piquet when asked if the Brazilian would indeed be staying on board.

"We will see," he said. "You know, it is not a surprise anymore."

lewis has made f1 racing and winning look as simple as walking at times and this race he absolutely struggled to come 5th under pressure.

maybe that will change now he has won the chip and will cruise on to break every record Schumacher set. Glad to see he took Emonso's youngest champion record away.

i feel bad for Felipe and think that he thoroughly deserved to be champ just as much as Lewis. I really think Felipe is a class act.

Sorry, I know it wasn't DC's fault, just par for the course with the run he's had this year. All the Red Bull parts flying off his car every race like the suspension and brakes and stuff, you know. :wtc:

Vettel was chewing up the time catching up to Lewis for a good number of laps at least a good .4-.6 seconds a lap... Vettel didn't need help to pass Lewis if he kept at the pace he was running...

Catching a car and getting by are different. There's no doubt that he was catching Hamilton easily.

They better switch powerplants at RBR because it would suck to have Vettel in a slower car. I still think about mid season next year Vettel with be consistently killing webber

Massa was basically balling his eyes out, and alonso was doing circles on the table with his finger lol

I just realized, BBC must have a shit ton of money...
BBC bought the right for MotoGP, so we lost the most kick ass commentary team on EuroSport,
BBC bought the right for F1, so ITV lost it's coverage...

that's some big names to be gettings rights too...
