Ferrari: Raikkonen now mindful of Massa's title bid
Ferrari have come their closest yet to admitting that Kimi Raikkonen could now support team mate Felipe Massa in his bid for the 2008 drivers’ title. It follows another frustrating result for the Finn in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix.
The reigning champion failed to score at Monza after finishing ninth and now trails standings leader Lewis Hamilton by 21 points with four races to go. By contrast, Massa's sixth place pushed him to within a single point of the McLaren driver.
Asked if Ferrari must now throw their weight behind Massa, team principal Stefano Domenicali said: "I've always said that our main interest is the team. Of course, that's the most important thing and the drivers know it.
"From now up to the end of the season, in the way that it's possible to do, of course Kimi will do his best to be as aggressive as possible but also consider the fact that Felipe is much closer to the championship leader, Lewis."

Q: "Do you think Felipe Massa has the ability to be world champion?"
JPM: "Er, We'll skip that one. Next question."

As a big LH guy (b/c of his driving) I hope Massa curb stomps LH to the title. I'm getting a little tired of his cocky attitude. The biggest being his "balls" comment in regards to KR...

same... I want Massa to win the title so wdc eludes McLaren again for another season... payback for all those "almost's" with Kimi... only upping their game and having reliability after Kimi leaves...

A week after the Spa-Francorchamps penalty controversy, championship leader Lewis Hamilton's on-track antics are back in the spotlight.
The McLaren driver got involved in some close encounters during Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, including with his old foe and former teammate, Fernando Alonso.
"There was some unnecessary movements he made," the Spaniard told reporters in his native tongue at Monza, "and he repeated them with Glock and Webber. It is his way of racing."
Toyota's Timo Glock was also not pleased when asked about Hamilton's driving.
"I do not know what he was thinking. I was right next to him but he left me no room. Sometimes he drives as though he is completely alone on the track," the German is quoted as saying by RTL.
"The next time I am with him (on track), I will behave with him in exactly the same way," Glock promised.
23-year-old Hamilton also made contact with Red Bull's Mark Webber during a wheel-to-wheel battle with the Australian at the first chicane.
"I made sure I covered my inside spot, but I didn't want to stay there on the wet patch or I wouldn't have made the corner," the Briton explained afterwards. "He just clipped my front wheel and went on."

Cut a chicane? take a timeout from racing and please wait 1 corner.
Blocking? Please only do it once.
Going faster than someone? Wait for them to be blue flagged and whine until they are.
Someone racing you when you just want a nice, clean, and fair race? Bitch about it in interviews and then go jerk your boyfriend off.
Okay, that is all.

F1 sucks. It's a bunch of overpaid pussies who are too quick to bitch about every little thing that is supposed to be a part of racing.

I was reading an article about Jackie Stewart and a race he had with Jochen Rinhdt back in the days in a mag of F1 Racing...and they were trading 1st places back and forth corner after corner. They wouldn't make blocking moves or any moves that would put each other into harm's way. Hell, look at one of the all time great battles:
Notice how they aren't blocking each other, or putting anyone endanger. I suspect racing got really aggressive during the 80s with Senna/Prost/Mansell/Piquet
A shame really...I'd prefer the old 'gentlemen way's of racing' b/c if I was being blocked at the track like that, I'd be pissed like hell too. Or cut off the way LH has been cutting drivers off...That's not racing. That's just plain ass rude.

And to premptively defend the "Trulli train", there's a difference between being difficult to pass on some of these un-pass friendly circuits, and weaving back and forth actively blocking people.
I'm no race car driver, far from it, but if cutting someone off and running them off the road is unacceptable to me in a video game, I can't imagine how angry it would make me if my physical well-being was at stake.
Edit: Paging my evil twin for Hamilton love.

It's a shame...
WRC is becoming a Loeb vs Ford competition, and sadly I'm a Loeb fan, but it's becoming the same ole same ole....
F1 has become a parade and if there is racing, the FIA steps in and messes it up...
Only thing that I've got left to cling on to that actually shows a race is MotoGP, it's got the personalities, the insane passes, and as long as Stoner doesn't run away with it, it's very enjoyable to watch... You've got Stoner, Rossi, Hayden, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, all battling out up front... it's fun...

of course f1 is still not at the level of the late 80s, but compared to 2002-2007 this season is already considerably better.. at least things are moving in the right direction with the field not as spread out and increased overtaking
as for cutting chicanes, when has that ever been an acceptable line in racing?

Of course it isn't, I just think the FIA clarification that you have to wait until after the next corner to continue racing is ridiculous. In my book if you slow down to let them pass then you've given up your advantage and you should be able to continue fighting right away. I just hate any attempt to regulate the racing beyond what has been tradition in motorsport. Don't do anything dangerous, don't be overly dickish, but other than that, hike up your skirt and drive like you've got something to prove. If you have a problem with someones driving, take it up with them or do like Glock said and take it up with them on the track. To me "gentlemanly" racing is a result of the drivers regulating themselves, not the FIA or anything else.as for cutting chicanes, when has that ever been an acceptable line in racing?
That being said, my theory is that all of this is the result of F1's flight to younger drivers with relatively high driver turnover.

the FIA have to step in when said 'younger drivers' interpret the rulebook differently than what the people writing the rules intended. now the whole clarification on the 1-corner no-pass rule after cutting a chicane was a compromise, but if they had not clarified it then the same group of people would bitch about how there was bias and how the rules were decided by a changing group of stewards. obviously this was their interpretation of the rule, and they have just simply clarified what they expect of the drivers. otherwise drivers could still cut corners, give up the spot (barely) and still be able to gain an advantage in the chicanes (close the gap to a driver ahead). the 1-corner makes it absolute and concrete that in no way can you gain an advantage by cutting a chicane, which to me is a move in the right direction because it removes any grey area in the rulebooks.Of course it isn't, I just think the FIA clarification that you have to wait until after the next corner to continue racing is ridiculous. This is why there's the new clarification of no passing until after the corner after the cut corner.
