It would be really unfair of them to drop Woobens seeing how he outscored Button 11-3Bruno to get another test but not Di Grassi, does this mean Wubens is still in the running?

OTA to discuss new qualifying format
By Michele Lostia and Pablo Elizalde Friday, November 21st 2008, 09:35 GMT
The Formula One Teams' Association, FOTA, will discuss a new qualifying format for the sport when the body meets next month.
FOTA is looking to spice up qualifying, currently divided in three sessions, two of them including a knockout system.
The new idea to be looked at consists of all cars jumping onto the track at the same time and with the same amount of fuel, with the slowest driver being eliminated after each lap.
After 14 laps, the six fastest drivers would then fight for pole position, fitting new tyres but still using the same amount of fuel.
The proposal might even include a championship point for pole position and prize money.
The current format, where the ten quickest drivers fight for the top spot in the final session with an amount of fuel decided by the teams, often sees pole position going to a car that's lighter than the rest.
FOTA will meet on December 4 and if the proposed format is agreed upon by all teams, it is expected to be submitted to the FIA for approval.

i think the current qualifying is pretty good already.. not sure how much better this would be until i see it in action. i can already imagine all the angry drivers about being 'held up in traffic'...

with the FIA throwing blocking penalties during quali left and right do you really want to give them the opportunity to go wild though?maybe thats the point? the chance that traffic will hold up drivers is higher, thus the chance of a grid based on true speed is reduced. So faster drivers in the back means more passing...

Nick Heidfeld says he is looking forward to the deployment of KERS technology next year.
The German sampled BMW Sauber's early running version of the system in the famously aesthetically-challenged interim car this week.
"There are still many things to sort out," Heidfeld is quoted as saying by the Cologne newspaper Express, "but when I press the (boost) button, I can already notice a difference. It should be very helpful."
It is believed that BMW's KERS system is already delivering bursts of additional 80 horse power.
It is clear, however, that development of the new technology still has some way to go, given the 'high voltage' warnings on the bodywork of many of the teams' test cars this week.
Mechanics, meanwhile, can frequently be seen wearing elbow-length insulated gloves in the pits, ostensibly because of the ongoing risk of electric shock.

Yep...and although they don't often lead to close seasons, technical disparities between teams are always interesting as hell to read/B.S. about. I miss the days of mass dampers and Michelins being shit in hot weather.if it does work it'll definitely create more overtaking.

From the Autosport season review of the Renault team: Both victories, to a greater or lesser degree, depended on good fortune, but that's to take nothing away from the performance improvement of the R28. It was over one second off the pace in Australia at the beginning of the year and only 0.3-0.4 seconds off in Brazil at the end. In terms of performance gains through the year this team outstripped even Ferrari and McLaren - with the proviso that it's easier to do when starting from a lower base.
-.6 seconds almost exactly.![]()

2.35pm UPDATE: INJURED F1 driver Mark Webber has been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital after he collided with a car while on his bike.
Webber was injured in a head-on collision with a car about 12.30pm while riding his bike south towards Port Arthur on the remote Tasmanian Peninsula.
Webber, who drives for Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, was competing in his own charity event, the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge.
The helicopter, run by Tasmanian company Rotor-Lift, is about to complete the 25-minute flight to deliver Webber to hospital.
It is not yet known if he will be taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital or the Hobart Private Hospital.
Earlier, search and rescue police officer Damian Bidgood said Webber appeared to have a serious lower leg injury.
“Unfortunately he’s had a head-on,’’ Sgt Bidgood said.
“It will put him out of action for a while.’’
Rescuers are transporting Webber by road ambulance to a property known as Oakwood, just north of the site made infamous by gunman Martin Bryant during the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, Seascape.
A rescue helicopter is waiting on the oval at Port Arthur, just near the ruins of the historic convict site, waiting to fly to Oakwood to collect Webber.
He will then be flown to the Domain in Hobart and taken to hospital.
