"This arsehole has got to go for the sake of the sport," Stoddart told the Weekend Australian newspaper.

"There is absolutely no question in my mind that Mosley must go, and only then will I come back to the sport as a team owner," he added.

:noes:

Stoddart ftw

now martin whitmarsh is saying that lewis' upper front wing 'disappeared' 2 seconds before the impact with alonso, causing the sudden burst of acceleration into the renault's backside. :ugh:

Posted Image

i see it flexing and then when he gets into alonso's turbulent flow it springs back up, but i don't see it 'disappearing'

if anything, alonso took a much wider line and lewis just had a run on him

What part of the front wing is that? It's not the bridge, because we see it flexing just before impact, right?

Edit: Oh, I guess it is the bridge, You can see the gap on the left side of the nose.

British media need to shut the fuck up and realise that hamilton employed the fail and aids tactic all race long

:ugh:

Even Hamilton admitted he fucked up.

British media are completely anti-Alonso now so were bound to jump to conclusions. The ITV coverage was absolutely pathetic.

Apparently even Bernie has had a quiet word and basically said he should go.

If he had gone when the story first broke, he would have at least left with some dignity.

But the fact he's holding on when everyone is saying he should go for the good of the sport shows he actually doesn't give a shit about the sport.

McLaren boss Ron Dennis has dismissed rival BMW Sauber's chances of keeping up their strong start to the season - and is instead full of confidence his own team will bounce back to form at the Spanish Grand Prix.

BMW Sauber have made a stronger than expected start to the season and, on the back of podium finishes in the first three races, the team are now leading the constructors' championship.

But Dennis believes that once the European season starts, the rate of development of his team and Ferrari will see the pair of them edge clear at the front of the field.

When asked after Bahrain whether he saw BMW Sauber as a consistent threat, Dennis said: "No.

"I think that we respect all competitors and they're doing a better job than they've done at any other time in their involvement in F1.

"But it is when we get to Europe that the R&D and speed of manufacture starts to make a difference. We'll be very strong and I'm not at all unduly worried about the future. It will be a fight right through the season."

Dennis has always insisted that the true form of the teams fighting it out at the front will only become clear at the Spanish Grand Prix, when the first major development updates are fitted to cars.

"As I said before we even started to race in Australia: these first three Grands Prix don't really represent the pace of a Grand Prix team," he explained.

"I presume everybody thinks we go back to England and the pace of development carries on, but maintaining the cars at this sort of range is challenging. So you're really focused on achieving reliability and getting a consistency in your performance (in these three races).

"The next race will see all the accumulated development of the last two months come onto the car and we'll have to see who's done the best job."

He added: "We're pretty confident we can make a good step but whether it's a bigger step than anybody else, time will tell."

now correct me if I'm wrong, but he said the same thing last year during a race, saying the BMW's were running light on fuel and they just messed up McLaren's race.... but the McLaren's had to pit first.... :ugh:

i think someone is a little bitter that BMW are 1st in the constructors and McLaren is in third

hmmmm......

Any remaining support for embattled FIA President Max Mosley withered bare on Sunday, as the Formula One world rested from the sex scandal for 91 minutes to take in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

It was a day that went from worse to hopeless for the 67-year-old Briton, who - barred from the event by the royal family - watched from one of his homes in Europe as Felipe Massa win the Sakhir race.

F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone, whose refusal to condemn his long-time friend thus far was a lingering hope for Mosley, cancelled a scheduled interview spot with the British broadcaster ITV - another sign that the writing is already on the wall.

Ecclestone's deafening refusal to clearly back Mosley may have been motivated by the conspicuous presence in the paddock on Sunday of Sir Fred Goodwin and Arun Sarin - respectively the biggest bigwigs of the major F1 team sponsors RBS and Vodafone.

"It's an FIA matter but we're watching it closely," Goodwin told the Daily Mail after a meeting with Ecclestone.

A writer for the Daily Telegraph observed: "Ecclestone has privately accepted his old comrade has to go, but was hoping he would not be required to handle the instrument of execution.
Now, he has no choice."

Meanwhile, the Australian federation reportedly joined the growing mound of Mosley opposition, as did the highest ranking motor racing official in Spain, Carlos Gracia.

"It is clear that this is a very unpleasant affair that is deteriorating the image of motor racing," he told the Spanish radio station Cadena SER from Bahrain.

Even those who had previously and historically supported Mosley are having to change their minds, as it becomes obvious that resignation is the only cure to one of F1's biggest ever scandals.

"If Max starts to think about things without emotion, then there can be only one conclusion - he has to resign," said former triple world champion Niki Lauda.

I think we all agree Max is gone. It's time to consider who will be the next FIA head. Does anyone have any theories?

(Aside from Kerozen and Shiyan :ugh:)

well jean todt is definitely the obvious one in the candidate list. i'd throw in gerhard berger (after STR disbands) and alain prost into the list of candidates though. someone who understands both the commercial and technical sides of motorsports. they don't need to be knee deep in the technical stuff, but they should have a good understanding of what it takes and how technical staff operate in racing teams. being an ex-driver (i.e. berger or prost) would also be a plus.

hell, from a commercial standpoint even the flav would be a good figurehead, tho he's not leaving reee-nooo anytime soon.

Although Todt could possibly be a candidate, I don't see it happening simply because the rest of the world would scream of bias for Ferrari.
