If every car in front of them also improves it'll mean fuck all in the grand scheme of things.
it's not like Renault is the only one that's going to be improving....

All teams will be testing at Barcelona from April 14th to 17th
-the first two days massa will evaluate the new parts they will have for the F2008 which according to news will finally include the hole in the nose concept
-day 3 bridgestone will provide teams slicks. all teams will test the slicks with 2009 downforce settings. Schumacher will test the slicks for Ferrari
-day 4 kimi will take over continuing the car evaluation
-every team will have new parts for this important test
-renault have a big package in store to try and solve the cars serious lack of aero problems and lack of mechanical grip they are looking to find atleast 0.5 seconds
-according to automotorsport renault is lacking as much as 20hp to the top teams
-brawn has said that honda will bring new parts that should give another 0.5 seconds
-btw since its in season testing only one car is allowed per team to be tested
I think with all these updates coming for all teams order might change between the mid pack teams but at front not much will change.

All teams but SA

And how did Renault lose HP? They're not using basically the same '06 engine?

I find it hard to believe myself since renault always got the praise for low end torque out of corners, but according to teams it is still possible to gain horsepower through better lubrication and minor tweaks.........whitmarsh from mclaren in interview said that during whole season finding 5 hp is possible.

i read somewhere that shell develops oils that ferrari use to boost horse power...
so yeah, i can believe little tweaks can give little boosts even though the engine development has stopped.

poor renault
How could a team so good for 2 years implode? Was it just Goshn threatening to end support mixed with them concentrating 100% on development for '06?

It's really hard to top the spectacle and the soap opera that is F1.

does renault still run their mass damper system?
by the end of the season i forgot it it was banned or not....
Posted 08 April 2008 - 11:19 PM
it was designed by michelin for their tyres. so they dont run it now since they use brickstones...

between losing michelins, mass damper and alonso for a year... renault took a nose dive
