this is exactly what i've been saying should happen all season, soft tires that last 5-10 laps and harder tires that double that, not soft tires that can go race distance...
this race is amazing to me....

http://planetf1.com/...s-From-Montreal, Alonso was also badly hampered by an unidentified backmarker during his final lap before taking his last pit-stop. Having just set the two fastest laps of the race after being released by Hamilton pitting first, the delay meant that the McLaren driver was able to return to the track ahead of his one-time team-mate. "I lost 2.5secs passing another car and I exited the pits 0.5secs behind Lewis," remarked Alonso. "It was a race decided by small details." It so often is in F1.
DAMN YOU UNIDENTIFIED BACKMARKER!

I remember the commentators say Alonso was churning fastest laps when Hammy came in to the pits. But when Alonso hit the pits and came out he was behind Hammy? I was like WTF?!?

Jarno Trulli
Also screwed by Karun for the Button pass:
BTW the race is now on redliner's server. You can find details on how to access it in the videos/pictars subforum.

PM Sent.is there a link to this? i didn't make it back from France in time to catch it on sky
Anyway back to the race discussion. I do think the performance gap between the McLarens and Alonso wasn't that big this weekend and had he come out of the 2nd pit stop ahead of Lewis he had a really good chance of winning it. What seems more out of place is that had he pulled that off he'd be leading the WDC right now, in a car that at times this season has really looked off pace. Kudos where they are due, the guy is fast and can consistently bring home the goods.

Montreal is a bit of a special track in terms of layout, with slow speed corners and long straights, probably why it suited the other teams a bit more. Once more aero is needed I'm sure RBR will be doing well again
But they've indeed given away a lot of points
McLaren has shown now to be able to match RBR at two tracks, back to back. And in Turkey, those 4 cars were vastly quicker than the rest of the field pretty blatantly.
If McLaren keeps up with their development and RBR keeps delaying theirs (namely the F-duct), I could see McLaren's momentum keeping them ahead.

Namely MS, pretty much whenever he had anyone closing on him.
