who then proceeds to try and unlap themselves while mixing with the race leaders... only to pull in before the end of the race

Bah, he was unlapping himself, which is totally legal. Even Alonso said he would have just moved over for Hamilton if he was in Seb's position, trying to block him was needless.
Seb complained after the race about Hamilton unlapping himself, saying he should have just stayed behind the leaders, and his pass was bullshit.
But look who got a penalty for a shitty illegal pass during the race, Golden Boy.

Going from what was said by others, the replay didn't show Vettel even trying to stay on the track, no big steering inputs or anything (as if it was understeer), he just let the car track super wide. Even the overheads show him tracking away from Button, with absolutely no change in direction towards the track.A significant portion of vettel's car was alongside button, clearly button didn't give him one car's width. I'm not even pulling for vettel this year, and I call BS.

I think those were logical things to do.who then proceeds to try and unlap themselves while mixing with the race leaders... only to pull in before the end of the race

Passing Vettel helped Button get P2 in the end.
Retiring the car a few laps from the end means he can change stuff on his car (engine and gearbox?) with no penalty

Hmm that is pretty damning for VettelI disagree.
To me, Button gave Vettel more than enough room for 2 wheels off track and didn't track out until Vettel was clearly 4-wheels off track and miles ahead of him in the paint...
Sort of what Kimi did back when Fisichella almost won Spa for Force India

Any driver leaving the track, (i.e. no part of his car remains in contact with the track in accordance with the current regulations), may rejoin the track but without gaining an advantage.
Whilst the relevant regulation stated that a driver may gain no advantage at all by leaving the track, we feel the stewards should be encouraged to use their discretion in cases where it is not entirely clear whether or not a driver has gained any direct or immediate advantage.

RBR Hungary GP plunged into crisis as Vettel takes toys home
The Red Bull team may be unable to field two cars at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, putting them at risk of being thrown out of the championship, after Sebastian Vettel took his toys home after the German GP and refused to come out and play again.
Crisis talks are believed to be taking place in the run-up to the Hungarian event in an effort to bring the German driver around and get him to give the team their car back to transport it to Hungary.
Vettel reportedly stormed off after a difficult race for the double world champion, stopping only to call Lewis Hamilton "stupid", submit a dubious defence for his late illegal overtaking move, and stomp his feet loudly around the back of the paddock.
Red Bull have refused to comment on suggestions that Vettel then took his car and stormed off, saying that he didn't want to play any more because the other drivers were all 'poo heads', but one insider has anonymously revealed that the situation is desperate.
"The final straw came after the post-race debrief," the source was quoted as saying, "The team went for dinner on Sunday evening, and Seb was unhappy at the amount of broccoli he was being asked to consume.
"Despite repeated assertions from Christian Horner that Vettel would not be eligible for the dessert course should he fail to finish his greens, Seb tried to grab a chocolate pudding for himself before he finished his dinner.
"Some plates were thrown, he then turned and screamed 'I hate you' at nobody in particular, and he stormed off."
The deadlock between both sides is threatening to ensure that the team cannot meet the two-car requirement for the Hungarian weekend.
However, further reports suggest that the team may attempt to side-step the issue by entering reserve driver Sebastien Buemi in a papier-mâché model of an RB8, in order to avoid punitive action from the FIA.
