1) media sackriding
2) autobiography
if he doesn't win his WDC for this or next year then the choice for a rookie autobiography will look like a damn good idea, cashing in early when his hype is at its maximum. so sure it looks arrogant, but i doubt his motivation was because of overconfidence. probably more down to being opportunistic to people's sackriding. and if he wins a WDC, he can make a 2nd book, and people will still buy it..

confidence and arrogance aren't the same thing.
I want drivers to be confident and think they're good at what they do, but being arrogant... they can kiss my ass.
It's a very fine line...lotta people call me cocky. Lotta people call me confident. It's all a big game of perception. and he doesn't seem cocky to me.

Just tryin to understand the reasoning. I'm just tryiing to strip your reasoning

what i dislike is the media sack-riding him. I think the media is to blame as much as anyone else for people not liking him. Hell, KR wins the championship and LH is on the F1 Racing cover. WTF.
So, we both agree the media leg-humping is way over the top, and distasteful.
Going into the race, I already thought of Hamilton as a pompous, over-exposed douchecanoe.
Hamilton's hand gestures towards Fisichella, mostly due to my previous feelings, made me think Hamilton was "looking down" on Fisichella. It seemed to me that Hamilton would probably believe that he "belonged" in front of Fisichella because he was "better" than him.

Exactly!
I don't really understand the Trulli crack though.

I think after last season we'd have to rank the top 3:
Vodka Man
Black Jesus
Emonso
Your putting Lewis ahead of Alonso?
Let's wait until he has actually won something before putting him ahead of a two-time World Champion eh? Considering that Hamilton completely fucked it up last season.

i brought this LH hate issue up in the old OT thread.. the only concrete things that came up for reasons were:
1) media sackriding
2) autobiography

I have no hate for Lewis.
I hate the media sackriding. The bias of the British / English media and ITV coverage is absolute pathetic with their jingoistic bandwagoning of Hamilton.
Considering he was given a silver spoon by leaping into the best car on the grid etc etc....

hell i'd put him ahead of hill and villeneuve, and both have more WDCs than ham...

no question about that.. if he had been teamed up with some nobody and came out the way he did then maybe the media would have backed off his sack by now. the fact is he held his own as a rookie to a much more experienced driver which the media regard highly.

Think of him what you may think as a personality, but you cannot doubt his talents behind the wheel.
And the Williams that gave Hill and Villeneuve a World Championship was a far superior car to the Renault that gave Alonso the World Championship.

Disregarding the media's sack-riding - Fisi was in a top-rate car against alonso too, and he failed to pressure him for 2 seasons. the silver-spoon argument doesn't fly with me. his confidence to me is staggering to me...

He beat Alonso in the exact same equipment.Your putting Lewis ahead of Alonso?

I don't really understand the Trulli crack though.
Trulli's form this season is much like his 2005 start where he put the Toyota on the podium and put in a number of really stunning performances.
If he keeps up his driving and the Toyota keeps developing he may get another podium.

Er, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they finish equal second in the Championship last season?
Both won the same amount of races - 4. Both scored 109 points.
And both fucked it up by letting Kimi Raikkonen win the title at the final round.

For you to not hate Toyota.

It's hard to really dislike Trulli because of media coverage or personality.
You can hate on him for the "Trulli trains" in the past though. Although, I think that had more to do with team qualifying strategy.

I'm not going on about Fisichella, Alonso or Hamilton and how they affected each other.
I'm talking about the media and how they conveniently forget that Hamilton was given the best car on the grid and that is why he was able to produce stunning results from the start.
There is no doubting his confidence.
The likes of Prost, Senna, Mansell, even Schumacher, were not given a top drive until they had served at least some sort of apprenticeship.

if they both had 109 and kimi hadn't won the WDC (i.e. no switcheroo with massa) then lewis would have claimed the WDC due to more 2nd places (equal
on wins).

TBH, i like Trulli too - he's quiet and just goes fast w/o all the flash. He's old-school in today's high glitzy glamour state of F1. I'd like to see him win a few. But I'd rather have Button win more and beat Toyota down
I dislike Toyotaaaaaa.

So simply because he has more second places he is automatically a better driver and 'beat' Alonso last year????
Wow, talk about pulling straws to put down Alonso...

not about putting down alonso - simple stating that black lightning beat Alonso fair-and-square.

am i putting alonso down in this argument? no. i'm just stating the facts to how the FIA classifies the WDC in the event of equal points. by the standards of formula 1, he beat alonso.
actually im arguing that lewis is better than the hate suggests, not that lewis > alonso therefore alonso sucks.
