But I think they should split the commericial holdings differently whether you sign up to the budget cap or not. And to be honest, I've really enjoyed the racing this season so far w/ the current technical regulations. And last season wasn't terrible either, I mean how many championships come down to the final corner of the final lap on the final race? That was thrilling!

What is the fastest non-diesel LMP1 car manufacturer at Le Mans in '08?

here's the argument i had... if you know the answer to the following question without looking it up then maybe you really know your le mans racing, but i'm not sure the average person knows this, and is the reason why a 2-tier system would not work. the so-called 2nd tier would be pretty much ignored for the most part

oreca?

Acura off the top of my head (edit: oops, that's 2009, umm going to go with Oreca in 2008?)
and yeah, if you look a page back, i mentioned that these rules changes are doing a Le Mans type system which I'm not liking for F1

The controversial 'winner takes all' scoring system has been rubber stamped for introduction in 2010 by the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
The governing body tried to introduce Bernie Ecclestone's favoured system this year, but the late change was vetoed by the Formula One Teams' Association.
We reported in March that the FIA would consult the teams before trying to introduce the system for 2010, but the new sporting regulations for next year already feature the controversial rule.
Article 6 states that the drivers' title 'will be awarded to the driver who has been classified first in the greatest number of races'.
The news has until now slipped the attention of the media because - unlike all other changes to the rules - the amended rule was not highlighted in pink and underlined in copies of the 2010 sporting regulations.
The FIA also confirmed that, accompanying the ban on race refuelling next year, drivers in 'Q3' can refuel under parc ferme conditions prior to the race.
This change ensures the spectacle of low-fuel dashes for pole position, not affected by varying race strategies.
here we go again...
I might skip F1 in 2010 if all these bullshit rules keep sliding in...

i believe its pescarolo for 24hrs of Le mans, and lola for ALMS. either way what i'm pointing out is that if a bunch of guys who are pretty passionate about motorsports don't even know then what chance does the average casual viewer have of giving a shit about tier 2

Le Mans has become a Audi vs Puegoet battle of the diesels...
I couldn't tell you shit about the LMP2, GT1 and GT2 classes...
I know a little about the Acuras and the Corvette team, other than that, some ferraris and porsches running around...

Was thinking that but wasn't awake to see your post.
So whos gonna tell greenpeace that F1 cars are so fuel efficient now they dont need to refuel?

so isnt the whole point of this to effectively "force" everyone under the cap? bc it looks like you cant compete if you dont conform, so it wont really be a two tier series for more than one season i would assume.
and kill me if you must, but i think it will be kinda cool...

i think everyone wants a cap and this is incentive to get to that magical mark...
just 2 HUGE issue in my book... 1) cap is too low and 2) until everyone follows the cap it's going to be a 2 tiered system
so for the next season or two F1 will be a joke...
how are you going to enforce that, beats me, I mean Ferrari for example can say they were developing a new system for any number of racing series they have cars in and not count that as part of the budget...

Q: What did your team mate Jenson Button say he’d want to be if he wasn’t a Formula One driver?
Rubens Barichello: A playboy?
Incorrect - it might be true, but he actually said a fighter pilot.
