haha.

Well, in other news...Schumi news is starting to look more like it's going to happen :eek3:

Actually I think the (failure of the) Henkel deal might have stopped that from moving forward.

I think Merc GP cannot afford the $20mil Schumi wants and needed the Henkel deal to pay for that.

When asked by ESPNF1 to respond to comments from Lotus boss Tony Fernandes - who recently joked that if his team didn't beat Virgin he would retire and kill himself - Branson offered up a dare.

"I like Tony a lot so I hope he doesn't have to kill himself, but at the same time I'd obviously like to beat him so maybe we should think of a different challenge," said Branson.

"He has an airline and we have an airline, so if we beat him he can come and work on our airline as a Virgin stewardess - which will save him having to kill himself and we'll make sure the stewardess outfit is perfect for him. I suspect if he beats us he might ask me to reciprocate, I'll have to check out how fetching his stewardess outfits are, but I'd be game to do it."

this is why I love Branson :hs: :o :o :o

Maybe the reason Sato "came into his own" at SA was the fact the SA07 was carbon copy of the race-winning ra106? The 07 Honda was the beginning of two shitty years, but the 06 car was a demon on track. Sato left after 05, but driving the development of a car that he was very comfortable in when he left Honda, AFTER dealing with the...recalcitrant 2002 Arrows/Aguri of the year before. :o

Branson is great for chuckles. In for VR being the new Hesketh. :hs:

Curious choice of car to be in if you're a Ferrari Consultant, don't you think? :hs:

Here is an idea that'll fix F1... doesn't cost the teams any money and will take the racing back to the track away from the pits.... and it's so simple a 5 year old can implement it...

take away pit wall to in car communications... no more radios...
if it's not on the pit board, it's up to the driver to decide what to do...
no more discussing strategy based on what other teams are doing on track, no more figuring out where the weather is heading, no more "change to map 5 till your next pit stop"...

BOOM... fixed... discuss

The RA104 was a pretty solid car as well, but Sato never matched Button in any way at Honda.

He really did do MUCH better at Super Aguri.

name one fiat that could beat a S class in terms on comfort and style? It would have made more sense to get a the Maserti Quattroporte, but I don't think they're particularly common at car rentals, especially in Germany, as i think this is a pic from when he met with his agent recently.

Why would the chap need to rent a S-class when his admitted daily driver is a simple Fiat 500?

I'm not disputing that he is on his way to Merc, just playing devils advocate. But if this were a business trip, I highly doubt a rental of anything less than a S class level would suffice. It is a relatively common car for that level of comfort... He could have just as easily got a 7 series and that might have squashed some rumors, I don't really know. But all I'm saying is, just because the man is driving a Merc does not necessary mean he'll be driving for them. I drive a 3 series, and all that means is I was lucky enough to get a good hand me down (the car is 15 yrs old afterall).

If Fiat gave 2 shits about what Schumi was driving they'd have local dealers spot him their loaner cars. So either they don't sweat the brand loyalty thing, or schumi is going to merc.

If Fiat really cared that much, then the Maserati Quattroporte should have been waiting for him at the ariport. No?

haha, I know. It's just odd that with all the MB rumors flying around...he arrives in an S-class. Has he ever showed up in an S-class before?
