Dear Ron,

Shut up.

<3 McLaren fans

I'm so glad Ron's gone. I can't believe how much I like McLaren again now...further more, I should've known Whitmarsh would've been cool after discovering that the following drive around Goodwood at full speed was his idea...

After this run, Lord March went right to Whitmarsh and told them to never do this again :squint:

Is anyone else really starting to enjoy this season?

We've had 2 technical/development coups, 2 great intra-team rivalries, unbelievable drama with Massa's ruined comeback. The races have been relatively entertaining, but the soap opera has been damn near epic.

Todt at the FIA and Whitmarsh heading the FOTA seem to have put more level heads at the top all around.

once Mad Max and Bernie got seperated the FIA has been more logical than ever, and having someone level headed leading the FOTA instead of a crazy Italian works too...

This season has grown on me, especially after the last couple of races... pretty much post Canada is when I started enjoying the season... RedBull/Ferrari are putting on a good show with McLaren popping it's head in every once and a while...

Eddie Irvine is the latest to put the boot into Michael Schumacher following his controversial move on Rubens Barrichello in Hungary, describing him as an "idiot".

Schumacher received a 10-place grid penalty for the Belgian Grand Prix after he "illegitimately impeded" Barrichello during an overtaking manoeuvre in the closing stages of the Hungarian GP.

The German has since apologised, but that doesn't mean the criticism has stopped and former team-mate Irvine says he should've received a one-race ban.

"He was an idiot," Irvine said during an interview on Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show. "It was an idiotic manoeuvre that was extremely dangerous. It was incredible. He wasn't thinking and it was just pure arrogance that he thought he could just drive another driver into the pit wall.

"He got punished, but I don't think he got punished enough. He should have got a one -ace ban because it was one of the worst manoeuvres I've ever seen."

Schumacher's antics this year have led to speculation that his comeback could only last one season. Irvine, though, thinks he should continue even though he is no longer getting away with things.

"I don't think he should retire," he said. "He's always done stuff like this and has intimidated people for a long time, but he got away with it because he was Michael Schumacher.

"He was 'the' Michael Schumacher, but this Michael Schumacher isn't getting away with it."

I actually agree with this. And the best part is, Nick Heidfeld gets a drive!

"I think there was a lack of management, a lack of guidance from the top management, a lack of clear objective. It's difficult to say, because I don't want to criticise anybody. [But] the drivers' situation... Alonso back at Renault after the McLaren situation, and being signed for Ferrari... a driver is a key asset for the team and if the driver is not motivated, not pushing the team enough... because he knew he was moving on.

"That was a key thing for me, and this is what Kubica did. He brought a lot of freshness and a lot of motivation. The lack of results was bringing the team down, because they are very devoted - so no results was clearly very demotivating for them. No management to guide the team, and drivers which were not easy to work with, very arrogant and not pushing the team in the right way. That was clearly the main two components of what was wrong."

A nice slap in the face from Boullier, lets see how many titles they win without Fred and Flava Flav. The comment about commitment is pretty funny too, Alonso signed with Ferrari in the middle of 2008 and had an awesome run at the end of that year.

I'm really not sure the dip in renault's performance had anything to do with fred. I think it had more to do with flavio, goshn threatening to pull out, sponsors pulling out, etc. Could have been partly an unmotivated emo though :coold:

his performance vs nico have not been that impressive either. dont forget, he also beat himself up quite a bit playing with bikes, that may not have a huge part of it, but i can imagine it would at 40 yrs old.

OK, the move was harsh... But didn't a certain TV car show just a few weeks ago sing praises about a certain driver of yesteryear putting people in tough situations and forcing them to make a choice between backing off or crashing?

I guess what I'm alluding to is that the only reason Rubens was forced into that tight situation was because Michael didn't slam the door shut hard enough in the first place.

I'm still not happy with the new front wings, I think it would a bit better if they made it narrower instead of how wide they are now. As for the rear wings, I'm in agreement, bring back the old ones!

:o to the million.

Derek Warwick is a faggot who needs to leave his bias at the door.

On the surface, throwing in ex-drivers to the stewards room makes total sense. Then you have stupid situations like Monaco and you question how retarded can the rule making get.

Newey hospitalised after Ginetta crash

Red Bull Racing technical director Adrian Newey has been taken to hospital for precautionary checks after an accident in a Ginetta G50 race at Snetterton today.

Newey was driving a guest car in the British Touring Car Championship event when he was spun into the path of another car. After a heavy side-on impact, he was removed from the car by stretcher.

Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson issued a statement to confirm that Newey had escaped serious injury.

"Adrian has been taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure after being clipped by Julien Draper of Barwell Motorsport which caused Tony Hughes of Speedworks to have a side on collision with Newey's DynoJet car," said Tomlinson.

"It's testament to the strength of the G50 roll cage that the car withstood heavy impact and there were no serious injuries."

IN for Bernie getting killed in Interlagos! :mamoru:

Bernie Ecclestone has taken a swipe at Brazil's Interlagos track, labeling it F1's 'worst circuit'.

The F1 supremo was scathing in his assessment of the venue, but admitted he was hopeful that an influx of sporting events - the football World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Summer Olympics - and the structural rehabilitation that comes with them will see matters improve.

"Brazil will organize the next World Cup and the Olympics, so it makes sense," Ecclestone told Estada de São Paulo.

"Long ago, in 1972, I believed in Brazil and brought Formula 1 here, but I can no longer be questioned by the teams about the worst circuit in the championship. The future depends on significant improvements," he added.

The circuit currently has a deal with Ecclestone to host an F1 race until 2015, but this is by no means a definite assurance that the races will remain.

Brazil has been the venue that decided the World Championship for the past two seasons amongst others; with Jenson Button securing his 2009 title at the penultimate race with a fifth place finish, while Lewis Hamilton's last corner exploits to claim fifth spot saw him take the honours in 2008.
