aaw... yeah, its for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with views of the golden gate bridge, berkeley hills and stuff

I was in a 3BR 2 bath condo with a couple lesbians... I didn't have much of a view, but I was only a mile from the ocean...

Hell I was never home during the day to even enjoy a view if I had one, so it was no big deal.

The inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has been allocated an October race date for 2009, it has emerged.

The largest of the seven United Arab Emirates last year penned a minimally seven-year deal for a race, to be held on the man-made Yas Island located to the east of Abu Dhabi island.

"Spectators will enjoy close, competitive racing played out on three distinct sections of the 5.6km race track. These include high speed areas ending in tight overtaking turns, a street section and a marina section, all of which combine to deliver an unrivalled Formula 1 viewing experience. It will be one of the longest and most demanding tracks in the world, and will include an iconic grandstand hairpin for the ultimate in spectator entertainment," reads an Abu Dhabi Grand Prix press release.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper this week revealed that the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, title-sponsored by Ferrari backer Etihad Airways, will be held in October next year.

It was previously believed that the race could be given an early spot on the 2009 calendar.

Track looks retarded. An F1 car is designed for high-speed corners. None of these inspire greatness. Just designers cockin' about and trying to make some money. The good ole days of awesome tracks are over.

Do they just throw a piece of string on the floor and decide whether its a new GP track?

I don't understand why that straight has to be so goddamn straight. Put a bit of a curve in it, just a few degrees... the cars have enough traction for full-throttle acceleration anyway, regardless of if it's straight or a bit curved. Might as well make it more exciting.

I'm originally from India, so i know how bad it is about that stuff. A civic here costs the same as what you mentioned, about $25k USD, and a good yearly salary would be $25k.

If I were to buy an apartment, where I stay right now, basically my parents apartment, it would cost approx $1,000 per square foot, and we live in a 2000 sq ft apartment :o

Home loans here are not as easy as what they are in the US, and can you imagine, having a salary of 30-40k USD, and trying to purchase an apartment that costs $1 mill :embd: Thats one of the main reasons I opted to move to the US, staying costs here, if I were to move out, would kill me :o

fuck... it's been too long since I moved back from the US. Took me a while to covert that into metrics. But yeah I'm in the same boat, except mortgage laws in thailand (for foreigners) states fro what ever amount you borrow, you need an equal amount in collateral and you can't use the place you bought as collateral. so by the time I have saved enough money to buy a place out right, the prices would have gone up so much I won't be able to afford a place anyways....

yeah now I'm looking into mutual fund or something, gotta make more money somehow and buy me an apartment.

Since the US GP has gone we need more bankings like the old monza parabolica - that would be sweet

Agreed

I love straights, but on a purpose built road course a 1/4 mile straight is plenty, they should add a couple chicanes in that long ass straight.

I love when he talked about Monaco that year, he said he fell into a trance and kept going faster and faster and he could see himself floating above the car as he drove. and when he snapped back into it, he had really scared himself and immediately backed off.

or thats what i remember reading, lol. but stuff like that makes him very endearing. dont forget too, he donated a substantial portion of this winnings to charities in Brazil without anyones knowledge.

There is no doubting Senna, particularly away from the track, was a man of great humility. I have many VHS tapes of him back home and many show his concern for the poor in Sao Paulo, the foundations he set up to help children and he cared deeply for the people of his home town.

While there is no denying that, and the fact he was a gifted driver, there is still a certain amount of revisionism that has happened since his death. The 'bad bits' have been glossed over. Much like Schumacher's run-ins and tactics will eventually be glossed over as time goes by.

People generally only want to remember the good things.

I hope the cars from next year look like they did in the early / mid 1990's. Still like they do today, but without all the ridiculous winglets and shit that just makes the cars look fucking ugly.

Give me smooth lines please.

The safety brigade have won the war, and with Hermann Tilke designing the tracks, you will never get anything like a Spa-Franchorchamps, a Clermont-Ferrand or even a Brands Hatch.

No, most circuits now all have the same features really - long straights leading out of / into to sharp turns to help overtaking with the rest of track generally made up of featureless turns.

While it's all in the aid of safety, even the old tracks have been sanitised. Imola was never the same after 1994 when they added three second-gear chicanes....

Hockenheim was desicrated by getting rid of the long blasts out into the forests. That's why everyone loved the old Hockenheim - simply because it was different. But no, now it's like every other circuit.:embd:

Frankly, that's the only reason why I still love Monaco. Because it still has that real element of danger.

Fuck, THAT was that track I remember as a kid when I was like 5 or 6 years old and watching TV and I'd see these F1 cars blasting through a forest... shit looked bizzare and awesome... can't believe we lost that :mamoru:
