Playing Devil's advocate here.

Why doesn't he gain Pedros points tally then?

Also, I'd find it funny seeing a team switch 4 drivers in a season to win the constructors with the pollution of bad drivers in F1 and all.

On a better note: 14 hours before jetting off to Singapore for a week of awesome Posted Image

Hah! Have fun bro!

Maybe you'll be better at putting up pictures than Mads... :)

WTF! F1 2010 was supposed to drop today in NA, and yet its nowhere to be found in any Best Buy/Walmart/Target/Gamestop within 500 miles. Complete, and utter fucking bullshit. Why publish a release date of 9/22 codemasters, when no one will have the game at best until Friday, likely monday?

I am spitting engine fragments over here. The release date has changed to fucking much.

Ecclestone pushing for medals system

By Jonathan Noble Thursday, September 23rd 2010, 11:20 GMT

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone plans to make a fresh push to introduce his gold medal system into the sport, after suggesting that the new points system introduced this year has not improved matters.

Despite an ultra-tight championship battle between Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and McLaren, which has left five drivers in contention for the title with five races remaining, Ecclestone believes F1 would have been better off going for his 'winner-takes-all' concept.

Under Ecclestone's plans, the world championship would be awarded to the driver who scored the most victories in a season. If drivers were tied, it would then go on countback for second or third places.

If that system was in operation today, Mark Webber would be leading the title chase on four wins, ahead of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton on three wins and Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel on two.

Speaking at an announcement that German insurance company Allianz has extended its deal to be involved in F1, which will now include its logos being featured on the safety cars, Ecclestone said he was not impressed with the new points system used for the first time this year.

"If you look at the points system, it has made absolutely no difference," said Ecclestone. "If we had the old system it would be exactly the same position as now. Which is strange.

"Maybe they will wake up and think about my gold medal system now. Because Mark would have four gold medals now and two other guys with three, so the championship could go all the way to the wire."

When asked if he could see the medal system being accepted, he said: "Yes, for sure. They will see now what could happen, let's wait and see."

Speaking about this year's title battle, Ecclestone believes that the winner of this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix would take a big step forward in his title ambitions - although reckoned Red Bull Racing duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were favourites.

"I think whoever wins here, is going to be in a better position," said Ecclestone.

"I honestly would not like to say who I think [will win]. Obviously Mark has got a good chance and I think Red Bull Racing are going to be very quick here, so I think you have got to say that certainly one of the Red Bull guys is the favourite at the moment."

I get where he is coming from in terms of the big "what if". Say four drivers go into the final race tied on four race wins each, the fight for the win would determine the title. Hopefully. But relying on a medal count to sort out any tie isn't all that much different than the current system of number of seconds, number of thirds, etc. Until the tie is broken.

However, the tallying of points this year has been awesome. Let it ride for a few more years. Because what if the first year a medal system were put in place, somebody goes out and wins 8 out of 9 to start the season? Then we're all ffuuuuuu'd.

Organisers reveal further details about Austin track

Race organisers for the forthcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, have released further details about the new circuit, which will stage the event from 2012, when Formula One racing returns to the country for the first time in five years.

As well as being the United States’ first purpose-built Formula One track, there will be additional visitor attractions at the site including a proposed driving/riding experience and seminar building, a motorsports driving club, a kart track and a welcome centre.

The multifunctional facility will be ideally situated on a 900-acre site in southeast Austin. The proposed grandstands, semi-permanent stands and natural seating areas will enable over 120,000 to attend the venue’s first event in 2012.

To address the impact of traffic, leading transportation and traffic-engineering experts, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. and Graham Lake-Grange have been retained. Kimley-Horn developed traffic plans for the Texas Motor Speedway, the new Cowboys Stadium, Lone Star Park, and Houston’s Dynamo Park. UK-based Graham Lake-Grange has developed successful traffic management plans for 13 British Grands Prix at Silverstone as well as over 100 other public events.

The driving/riding experience and seminar building will provide the ideal location for manufacturers to test, launch and educate dealers as well as consumers. The facility will feature classroom settings, virtual driving experiences and will provide the opportunity for test-driving on the racetrack.

The membership-only motorsports driving club will serve as a luxury destination featuring an array of hospitality services, including professional instruction and customized driving courses. The outdoor karting track be open to the public and will specialize in orchestrating custom group events, team-building programmes, celebratory events, fundraisers as well as individual experiences.
