The way I understand it, they're doing it to help Bridgestone and the FIA determine the tire specifications for next year as I don't think slicks are a sure thing. I doubt those are the '09 spec aero kits, just quick simulations of 2009 downforce levels. Hopefully the quick lap times are due to increased grip and low downforce while corner speeds are down, otherwise slicks will never see the light of day.Does anyone find it weird that they are testing for 09 aero-specs when the 08 season has barely started?? Usually you don't test these Spec-B cars until laaaaate in the season...

Grooved tires have long surpassed the grip levels of the last batch of raced slicks -- and with aerodynamics, have created even more grip. As long as they have a control tire like they do now, I don't see why slicks won't see the light of day. But this is seriously sexy stuff to me -- please please bring this all back. If Mad Max allows this, i'll even forgive him for his Jew-hatin' ways

STR3.... wonder if it was brake failure
Scuderia Toro Rosso suffered a setback yesterday in Barcelona when Sebastien Bourdais crashed the new STR3 heavily. The team's plan was to introduce the new car in Turkey so the team will not be affected in Spain where Sebastian Vettel and Bourdais will continue to use the STR2B, but the damage to the new car may mean that the debut of the new machines will be delayed until Monaco - which is not the place a team wants to introduce a new car.
The crash happened after Bourdais had completed 71 laps although the car had previously been driven by tester Brandon Hartley at the Vairano circuit at the end of March.

A team insider has painted a bleak picture of Super Aguri's race against time for survival.
The Japanese team announced on Wednesday that the expected backing of the agreed buyout group Magma will not materialise.
After Super Aguri sat out the Barcelona test this week, a team insider told the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport late on Wednesday: "We have exactly three days to find an alternate solution.
"If we do not find the money, we cannot race," he added ominously.
The three day deadline is believed to relate to the need for transporters to leave the Leafield factory for Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Saturday, ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix the following weekend.
The struggling team is now hoping for a bail-out by previous team backer Honda, or F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone, who will be hoping to retain a full grid.
It is also rumoured that a German company, and possibly also a group from America, are still interested in buying Super Aguri.
