The drivers drank a few Red Bulls, it gave them wings, they flew right over top the rain soaked asphalt. Their airbrakes on the otherhand.....

Grooved tires have long surpassed the grip levels of the last batch of raced slicks -- and with aerodynamics, have created even more grip. As long as they have a control tire like they do now, I don't see why slicks won't see the light of day. But this is seriously sexy stuff to me -- please please bring this all back. If Mad Max allows this, i'll even forgive him for his Jew-hatin' ways :mamoru:

:werd:

Tyre technology has made tremendous leaps and bounds in the last decade. You put a driver in a car from 1997 and they'd REALLY whinge about lack of grip.:mamoru:

Hopefully the FIA finally get it right, give the drivers slicks, cut back on aerodynamic and put the emphasis on mechanical grip.

That is the holy grail. It'll probably never be found. :hs:

A look at the new Renault damper system
Mass dampers are set to return to Formula One sooner rather than later according to reports.

The system, which uses sprung weights to counteract any vertical movement of the race car, was banned by the FIA mid-way through the 2006 season. However, Renault is reportedly expected to run a modified version of the system from the Spanish Grand Prix, which is within the rules.

Reports earlier this month from AFP suggested that the device is worth three to four tenths of a second per lap, a significant gain if proven correct.

Renault first ran such a system at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2006, but was later banned after being deemed to act as movable aerodynamic device – via the chassis itself.

The above diagram shows the Renault system in place at the front of the cockpit.

alonso brings back 0.6!

Whether it was movable or an aerodynamic device, Renault having that banned mid-way through 2006 seriously fucked them. It was really the only reason why the World Championship ended so close between Alonso and Schumacher, as Renault were fucked once they had to take the device off.

Where has Stoddart been? After Long Beach, he is officially w/o obligations. He said he'd get back in the sport after Max was gone, but would get in before so if 'the right opportunity came along'

Super Aguri-Minardi ?!!??! :mamoru:

Stoddart to run for FIA President?!?!? :mamoru:
