From AutoWeek.com:
Ferrari, which ran its Formula One cars without Marlboro cigarette logos in the Bahrain Grand Prix, confirmed that those logos will no longer appear on its cars.
Marlboro entered Grand Prix racing in 1972 with the BRM team and has been a presence ever since. Bahrain, Monaco and Shanghai still allow tobacco branding, but Marlboro owner Philip Morris International decided only to use its "barcode" logo--which mimics actual Marlboro logos without using the brand name--in those races.

I think F1 just needs to find its roots again. Make F1, F1 again. Open up the rule book and instead of tying it down by standerdizing rules for the cars, create rules that would standerize the race and encourage the development of technologies again.

you're right on the money with that one. F1 technology / R&D is suppose to trickle down to road cars, and the last few yrs has seen very little of that because there has been so much focus on the entertainmetn value of F1. Though I agree that standardizing the cost in F1 increases the value of entertainment but it has really gone away from the "ROOTS" of what F1 technology should be all about.
I think they just need to find a balance where money spent on development has actual use for road cars, more on machinery less on aerodynamics. Maybe they remove spending caps(for R&D) and bring back customer cars but have a different way of splitting up the money. 40% to bernie, 60% to the teams but then have 2 championship series. 1 which includes all the teams, customer and manufacturer cars, distributed according to points. the other being only manufacturers also distributed depending on points.
so if the championship had points like this
1) Super Aguri (customer car): 94
2) BMW: 88
3) Ferrari: 81
4) Prodrive (customer car): 77
5) McLaren: 69
6) Williams: 61
7) Honda: 57
8) Toyota: 50
9) Redbull: 45
10) Torro Rosso (customer car): 42
11) Force India: 38
12) Renault: 35
30% of the money is divided in this format based on the % of the total point the teams won, but the other 30 would be divided in the format in terms of the constructors finishing order
1) BMW: 6%
2) Ferrari: 5.34%
3) McLaren: 4.66%
4) Williams: 4.00%
5) Honda: 3.34%
6) Toyota: 2.66%
7) Redbull: 2.00%
8) Force India: 1.34%
9) Renault: 0.66%
I think this theme of revenue distribution might solve some problems, but it may not. But in this sense, all constructors who are developing technology which will trickle down to road cars still get revenue for their R&D but also it still (possibly) allows the sport to be entertaining by having customer cars who can do their own aero R&D to be competitive. Dunno, just my 2 cents anyways

Super Aguri's financial crisis remains dire, but two positive signs emerged from the Leafield camp on Saturday.
Firstly, it has emerged that one of the Japanese team's transporters has been dispatched to the Circuit de Catalunya, scene of next Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, despite uncertainty about whether Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson will be able to compete.
The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, meanwhile, reveals that negotiations to save the team are in full swing, including the involvement since last Wednesday of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone -- who has contributed personally to the similar rescue of struggling outfits in the past.
For Super Aguri to survive even to the chequered flag at Barcelona, it is reported that the team needs 2 million euros by Monday.
It is also suggested that Ecclestone, 77, is pushing for another buyout group - this time from Germany - to step up.
Part of his task could be to persuade Honda to commit to continue supplying Super Aguri with cars and engines until the end of 2009.
