mix in an HD broadcast and there is much potential for win.I say they should name the new series GP1, get the teams that got rejected by FIA into their league, sign a bunch of race tracks that can have high capacity, and sell tickets at half the price of F1 tickets. :biggthumb:

Quite a few of the prospective teams trying to join F1 for 2010 probably won't be able to find the financial backing now that FOTA have announced they're leaving F1.

I think there's a good chance Prodrive, Lola and Epsilon could join the FOTA 8.

Yeah I never though about the commercial aspects of the FOTA 8 leaving the sport.....
Wouldn't all the sponsors want to jump ship seeing as the new series will have all the powerhouse competition and glitter to go with the sport?
What I am curious of though, is whether the new series will have cost cutting measures? Will they follow the proposal they sent to the FIA? Cos it's one thing to break away, but in order to survive, they have to be serious about cost cutting, and they have to make sure the new rules and regulation can help them develop new technologies that will help the car industry. Otherwise the new series will just be another racing series.
Part of F1's history is its glamor, then there's the racing heritage, but a big draw was the technology. But I think the one thing people forget that without regulations, everything can get out of control very quickly. I really hope now that FOTA teams have decided to break away, they plan everything carefully, they need extremely clear and strict rules and regulations. They need to set themselves apart from F1 and be a better run racing series, one with the best drivers, best cars, clearest rules, biggest sponsors and best tracks. They need to BURY the FIA and F1 once and for all, until such time that Max and Bernie are both 6 feet under. Then we can see if a reunion can be hashed out.
oh yeah, petition to name the new series GP1...

On the current list. They said they had enough new entrants to fill the grid without any of the current F1 teams.Just a thought, now that FOTA teams have withdrawn from the 2010 entry list, there is only 5 teams left in F1. Are they seriously gonna be able to get a grid of 20 cars to race next yr? coz with teams like Lola already deciding to scrap their program, what are the odds that Prodrive, Lotus and Brahbams will get their actogether and join up? Not that I would watch it, but wouldn't their series just kinda DIE due to lack of cars and interest??????

yes but would they still want to be in F1 and compete with the best if all the big teams go?

for some reason I had thought that this would resolve itself somehow
goddamn drama queens, all of them, i don't give a shit whose fault this is, this sucks
honestly, how expensive could a hitman possibly be? have some second-tire McLaren exec take the fall for hiring him 'without the knowledge of anyone else' and you're done

There are enough tracks left without a race... Silverstone, Indy, Montreal, just to name a fewcan they at least use the same tracks, or does that douche canoe have an exclusive agreement with the track owners?

I don't think any of the tracks on the current calendar are exclusive to the FIA or Bernie, but he might throw in a clause or something.
Indy, Montreal, Silverstone and Magny-cours should all be game.
Then we have other famous track that use to be in F1 but are not currently on the calendar, but are probably safe enough and ready enough to host a race.
Jerez
A1 ring
Brands Hatch
Estoril
Imola
Mugello
Paul Ricard
Zandvoort
So even without any tracks from the current F1 calendar, we have an 11 race season. But I know the new series will want to attract a lot of money from the middle east and asia, so Shanghai, Bahrain, Sepang, 1 track from Japan (Prob Suzuka) and prob Singapore might be retained on their lineup at the least. Then once the contracts start to run out, I'm sure the organizers from Monaco, Hockenheim, Nurburgring, Interlagos, Melborne, and Spa would love to join.

How much mud was thrown around over the double-diffuser? I have a feeling it will get pretty damn ugly... Oh how I wish we were talking about double-diffusers again
