wow, i didnt realize someone was killed at Indy too! On top of that, i just realized as well that he is the same kid that we have been watching on youtube for the last few years... anyone remember this??
Yep. We heard about it that night b/c both me and Kero missed the MD250 race that was before the 125cc class...I overheard it in the stands that someone had died in the 125cc race and just thought it was wrong info because we witnessed a bad 125cc wreck in our corner, but we didn't think it was that bad. Later on while at dinner, we saw the accident on the news and it was like 'damn....' and it kind of killed the mood for all of us
The shitty part is that I had gotten his autograph the day prior, and told Nathan & George right afterwards that I thought the kid was "going to be big one day"...sucks

my local motorcycle forum has a donation thing setup to help the family out, his dad is a member of the forum... a lot of guys on that forum have been on the track with that kid...
and for those that didn't watch the Moto2 race yesterday, it was a complete freak accident... Tom went on to the astro turf and lost control. instead of the bike sliding from under him, it basically just folded under him at the fastest part of the track (I estimated they were going 140+ mph) and the two other riders in that 3 man battle were way too close to do anything... Tom basically looked like a rag doll

Well its now confirmed. Jorge 2010 champion. Pedrosa fell and fractured his collarbone in 3 places during practice, had surgery on it already and is out for this race and most likely the rest of the season.
it was definitely Jorge's year... dude rode like a champ, fully deserved it... shame there wasn't really a challenger this year to duke it out with...

Jorge is upset about being raced hard.
Srsly, all he needs is to finish the remaining races and the chip is his. No need to be risking your own race for a few extra points at this point in the season.

He wanted to let Rossi know that he wouldn't get pushed around. I respect that.
But at what point was their racing 'too dangerous' because moves like that in F1 would've resulted in a crash for sure. I'm surprised / impressed that they didn't wreck to be honest...

If he wanted to race Rossi and not get pushed around, then do so. But don't call the racing unfair when things don't go your way...He wanted to let Rossi know that he wouldn't get pushed around. I respect that.

Also, they do crash with moves like that in F1, but anyone that Hamilton hits seems to carry on OK

FWIW I bet Danny gets back on the bike before the end of the season after Rossi pulled the "what broken leg" act

Fantastic race! Really exciting and a great way to start a hung over day
Just too bad Redliner left his F1 2010 game at my place and I proceeded to waste 5 straight hours LOL.

Rumors are swirling that he's back on the bike next weekend.
I remember reading about Kevin Schwantz, and for a time there he was wrecking a bit often and was always falling on his shoulder. They asked him how he had time to let his collerbone heal, and he said "for about 2 years, I just rode around the broken collerbone..."

But he did get pushed around, and had Jorge not conceded I'm sure it would've ended with someone on the pavement. Having said that, I'm probably the biggest Rossi sackrider here on the boards but I think his racing was extremely border line. C'est l' vie. Still, good fun though.
im not sure C'est l' vie applies to doing battle at 200 mph on motorcycles

normally i'd agree, but with all the electronics and on board systems, much like F1, it's become a gentleman's sport, let them duke it out once and a while... make the show a bit more exciting... 99% of the season is clean passing, i don't mind that 1% where they're going at it tooth and nail...

I disagree - the safety & electronics has actually made both less of a gentlemen's sport. During the 50-60-70s and even early 80s, they raced fairly giving each other space. Because if you pulled what Schumi did on Rubens, Vettel on Webber, Webber on Heikki, they would be dead or severly injured...that's why motorcycle racing has fair/good racing because they still respect that element of danger.
