im trying to think of famous racers i've met... my aunt goes to church with Tony George, she says that they talk often and that his family does alot for their church, but i have not met him.

I have a tire signed by Tarza Yamada! but i didnt meet him.

And my roommate used to be good friends with Andy Lally, but i haven't met him either.

A photography friend just did a shoot with Montoya, and i wasnt there.

HighTachPres had Rossi sit next to him at the USGP. I think '06, when he lost his motor, he came to stop at the shed he was taking pics from. He came in and sat down until he got a scooter. pretty cool :)

the guy who used to set FTD all the time at nationals (in an AM car, the BBR Shark) used to love my car! we talked all the time, i thought i was pretty good :hs: he said we lived the best life, single, racing cars, drinking beer, barely getting... ahh miss those times :werd:

lol, mine suck :o

Sato to get second Toro Rosso test

By Jonathan Noble Friday, November 7th 2008, 13:49 GMT

Takuma Sato has been recalled for a second test with Scuderia Toro Rosso later this month, as the Red Bull-owned team continue to evaluate their driver options for 2009.

Sato tested for the outfit at Jerez in September, and will now join Toro Rosso at Barcelona for the test that takes place from November 17-19.

A statement on Sato's website said: "We are extremely happy to announce that Takuma will be testing again for Toro Rosso in Barcelona on 17-18 November.

"Toro Rosso have yet to decide on their driver line up for the 2009 season. We would like to thank all the fans, as ever, for their fantastic support for Takuma and look forward to more good news soon."

Toro Rosso have made it clear that they want a youngster and an experienced driver in their cars next year. With Sebastien Buemi favourite for one of the seats, the second available drive appears to be a shoot-out between Sato, Sebastien Bourdais and Rubens Barrichello.

As well as Sato's vast experience, the Japanese is an attractive option for Red Bull because of the drinks company's desire to make a breakthrough in his home market - where it has struggled so far to establish itself as a major brand.

Rivals urge Hamilton to join RoC

By Simon Strang and Jonathan Noble Friday, November 7th 2008, 12:28 GMT

David Coulthard and Jenson Button have urged Lewis Hamilton to try and do all he can to take part in the Race of Champions at Wembley next month.

Race of Champions organisers have openly targeted Hamilton as their key attraction for the event that takes place at Wembley on December 14 - although his McLaren boss Ron Dennis is believed to be reluctant to allow the new world champion to take his focus off F1.

But speaking at a pre-event press conference at Wembley on Friday, Coulthard and Button both called on Hamilton to make an effort to join in the fun.

Coulthard said: "For me the best part is the bit behind the scenes, the camaraderie of the event, between the drivers. I never had the opportunity before this to actually spend time with motorbike guys, rally guys and people from different formulas because you are so into your own sport.

"That's the kind of thing I really enjoy. It's one of the things that we have been discussing to see if we can enable the public to see a little bit more about what goes on behind the scenes.

"We all play down the competitive side, but don't think because we are having fun that we don't want to do the best we can.

"Now that I am retired, this represents the best chance I will have for a while to go racing. So I hope to do a good enough job to ensure I will be invited back again."

When asked about Hamilton's possible participation, Coulthard said he would love him to race alongside him at Team F1 Racing Great Britain, against Button and outgoing World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx in Team Autosport Great Britain.

"These two guys together [Jenson and Priaulx] are a very strong team and it would certainly help me a great deal if Lewis would come along," said Coulthard. "I would love to ride on his coat-tails and win something.

"So Lewis if you are watching, which I am sure you aren't, you're probably cuddled up in bed with your lovely girlfriend, at this moment in time, between sessions, wondering... please come along to the Race of Champions. Do it for your country!"

Button added: "I think it would be great. It's a great event and I had a lot of fun last year. To have Lewis here alongside DC, I think it would be a great team.

"Not quite as good as Andy and myself, but it would be good to have two good British teams in the Nations Cup."

Renu should've dropped Piquet and taken the option on Sutil me thinks. And Force India should've picked up another driver.

According to British media sources, Bernie Ecclestone did not celebrate the crowning of F1's new world champion on his return from Brazil to London.

Instead, the F1 chief executive and billionaire slammed his British Airways flight "a nightmare", despite his decision to head straight from the Interlagos to the Sao Paulo airport on Sunday night.

He was joined on the flight by other leading F1 figures, including Renault boss Flavio Briatore, but a fellow passenger told The Independent newspaper that the plane sat on the tarmac for seven hours before taking off.

"As a result, the crew ran out of permitted flying time for their shift, which meant we then had to set down in Madrid to pick up a new crew," the passenger explained.

"We were due to get into Heathrow at about midday on Monday. As it was, we didn't touch down in London until 9.20pm."

World champion Lewis Hamilton's McLaren boss Ron Dennis enjoyed a smoother return to the UK, on board a private jet.

Coulthard, though, who spent nine years with McLaren, feels team boss Ron Dennis is likely to prevent Hamilton from competing.

"If would certainly help me a great deal if Lewis did come along," said Coulthard.

Jokingly, he added: "I'd love to ride on his coat-tails and win something, so Lewis, please come along to the Race of Champions. I need your help. Do it for your country."

Webber: KERS will penalise heavier drivers

By Steven English Saturday, November 8th 2008, 15:39 GMT

Mark Webber fears that one of the consequences of the introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) next season will be that Formula One's heavier drivers will be put at a disadvantage.

With KERS weighing between 25 and 60 kilogrammes, there will likely be less available ballast for teams to move around their cars to help with weight distribution.

And Webber believes that such a circumstance will make it harder for heavier drivers to achieve an optimum weight distribution for their car.

Speaking to autosport.com about the penalties for heavier drivers, Webber said: "It's certainly not going to be an advantage. I'm not exactly fat, but unfortunately it looks like the guys on the heavier side could potentially find it more difficult.

"It will depend on things like tyre choice, but if you're lighter you might have more choices.

"The guys who are in the mid-70s (kg) might find it tougher than the guys in the mid-60s. This shouldn't be used as an excuse, though. The weight distribution could turn out to be absolutely perfect once the car is designed. It is just there's less scope for the heavier guys."

The Australian reckoned it could be the first time in two decades that a driver's weight has an impact on lap times.

"It's an unusual situation," said Webber. "I've not really suffered because of weight since karting, but next year could be the first time since the 1980s that guys that are heavier are penalised by it."

Button is getting whiny. :o

Jenson Button insists he is a better driver than his British countryman Lewis Hamilton -- at racing a "bad car".

Hamilton wrapped up the drivers' title in Brazil one week ago, while Honda's 28-year-old Button completed the 2008 title eighteenth -- the lowest placed contender excluding those at the wheel of Force Indias or Super Aguris.

But he is quoted as saying by the British Sunday tabloid The People: "If (I'd) had Lewis' car then I'd have been World Champion too."

Button, whose only Grand Prix victory dates back to 2006, insists his comments are not sour grapes, but rather a reflection of his recent experiences.

"Lewis is a worthy World Champion but he wouldn't have done as well as me in my Honda."

"I mean, the guy has never been in a bad car. I think you learn from it and become a better driver trying to work with a bad car," he said.

Jenson; perhaps you should beat your senior citizen teammate before you make claims about being better than the world champion.
