“We had an engine problem and we blew up,” he told ITV Sport‘s Louise Goodman.
I'm sure they were trying some sort of risky lubricant or did something really foolish with valves & timing trying to make up that 30HP back...will be interesting to see if they can maintain this pace without the kerblamo.

When I saw that Mclaren under the tire barrier I just knew he was gone. Unbelievable safety F1.
Kubica's last year was easily a fatality too in a lower motorsport.
I think 10-15 years ago in F1 he'd have been a goner.
Safety has increased incredibly in the last decade. Consider he went head on at 150mph into a wall in Canada, the car would have simply disintegrated...

Alonso is in an overall good mood ever since going away from the dark side :wiggle"
The man is correct.
Alonso is back 'home' where he feels appreciated.
Seems to have found the .6 second as well...

No official word has been released regarding the MP4-23B's expected release date, but paddock talk suggests that McLaren will race the new car after the teams resume racing in Europe after the two upcoming away races in Istanbul and Montreal.

Alonso is used to being the top dog at Renault.... besides Monaco where Trulli and Fisi beat him
I was actually more impressed with Piquet this race, it wasn't exactly his fault he got a DNF

McLaren Mercedes has secretly begun testing an evolution of the MP4-23 amidst speculation that their rivals Ferrari are expected to dominate the remainder of the 2008 season. Dubbed the MP4-23B, the new car was seen testing recently in yellow trim with driver Heikki Kovalainen at the wheel. The 'rotorblade' design is estimated to be worth up to 0.5s per lap, effectively closing the gap to the current championship leaders.

DO IT. heikki is completely fine, it would be a little morbid if he was seriously hurt. But since he's doing well and will be able to race the next race, I don't see why not.

now he just needs to find the +30 laps with the -0.6 sec and he could be fighting for podium again.
