I want that tiny picture they used in fullsize.
I do too
I think their car is one of the hottest on the grid. But a life-line isn't going to save SA -- they need real support. I'm really surprised that Stoddart hasn't turned them into Super Minardi yet...

i don't even know how i'd start a proposal like that...
"hello fellow investment people, i'm mr. aguri and I need $15 million dollars to keep my team going for the rest of the season... can you help me..."

Even if this doesn't save the team, at least it gives us hope. And with Heigl, SBF is like the new axis.

That Formula for Success show really focused on what being an F1 team sponsor brings to teh table of a company.i don't even know how i'd start a proposal like that...

If, for the same money, a company can barely get a visible logo on the side of a McMerc or Ferrari, but can become a major sponsor of SA, a team that's getting alot of attention and fan base (esp as of late), why not.

I still need to d/l that. I'll admit, when I see an advert on a car, it does manage to stick in my mind. I wonder how much that actually translates into real money & buisness for a sponsor. Even at the lower levels of racing...
Do any of you guys ever see an advert and are like 'what's that?' and decide to look into it?

But if there's two products, and one sponsors F1 (esp a team I like) and one doesn't, i'll go with the former. Hence Lucky Strike smokes over Camels (when BAR was still on the grid, when I periodically smoked), Red Bull over Monster/etc, Honda and Toyota over Nissan (ok, i made that one up), etc.

I see Alice on the side of the Ferrari's but I could never find info on that. What about the old Toleman cars, that had "Candy" written on it. Some of those adverts made no sense.

alice, pronounced ahh-lee-chay is an italian telecoms giant. see www.alice.it
the only one that i saw in recent memory that i really had no idea about was 'samantha kings' or whatever it was on the SA... i guess i also had to look up what market santander/abbey was involved in

Actually, I had to look up Samantha King too when I saw it on the SA cars...I wonder what the majoriy of the F1 market is -- to let big buisness know that there are other big buisnesses out there with solutions to help them.
Of course, during the tobacco-era, that was to anyone that could hold a cig. Or fag if you're from England

Benetton (where MS got his real start and won two WDC's, among other cool things the team was/did.) was (is still actually) an Italian clothing retailer.
Also, anyone remember this car:
I wondered what "Renown" was for quite some time when I was a rotary fanboy - Google search one day revealed another fashion company, who had a very visual but brief flirtation with motorsports.

no i get that part...
i just can't imagine the sales pitch for something so high dollar like that...
I mean the company I work for is based out of Japan and I've been to Japan for 3 weeks on business, and their work practices and things are so completely different... i just don't know how I'd even begin to market the company to be sponsored...

Sort of why I was programmed to say 'budweiser' when it came time to have a friend's older brother buy us beer when we were 15. I'd seen that logo on a boxing ring about 11ty million times growing up.

For Aguri, esp w/ a company in Japan, they'd play on the National Pride aspect.no i get that part...

There's also the more intangible presence of mind aspect of marketing....seeing a company's logo flit around the track for 2 hours every sunday keeps the brand familiar in your mind even without an overt sales pitch.

i will pay up to $0.10/gal more for shell just to support their involvement with f1 and ferrari
