Renault’s Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld both scored only one podium finish each (in the first two races) and after that, the 48 podium positions since then were all taken by the same 5 drivers (Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Button and Alonso).
Well Im glad all this cost cutting has closed the competition

have you seen MotoGP during the 800cc era? Ben Spies is the only person to win a race in the dry besides the 4 "aliens"...

Who would you put in the fifth spot? Massa? Kubica? Nico? MS?

Healthy Kubica, yeah...probably #4 ahead of this years emo hambone. I'd put webber down into the Kovi/Nico solid B+ drivers, ~7th best on the grid.Who would you put in the fifth spot? Massa? Kubica? Nico? MS?

Even though I don't think Webbo did so great last year, I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone who's regularly flattered the shit out of their car anywhere in the field.... except maybe Kovi.

Trulli said, "There is no rule, but it is true that those who pay are less accustomed to suffering. They are less committed."

Then I read this, and it was laughable how Pastor played directly into Trulli's comment.
"I trust the team because it is impossible to be worse than this year," Maldonado told Brazil's TotalRace.com.
...
Asked about 2011, Maldonado conceded it was tough given the FW33 was so uncompetitive: "I believe that was the worst position for a rookie [to be in], when nothing works, especially in the first year, [as] you have to learn many things," he added.

Pastor should put himself in Ricciardo's shoes and try driving a HRT firstAt first, I was going to be harsh towards Trulli for these comments, with him apparently being scared for his seat:

I really don't like that guy, and in turn, I don't like Williams no mo.
Nothing he has done or said has impressed me at all. A very middle of the road, corporate driver that hasn't done anything to impress.
So this is this is probably why Jamie got canned by Red Bull...kind of shitty if you ask me. This was during free practice after Vettel had locked up WDC.
I don't really like Marko...

DAMS team boss Jean Paul Driot believes that it took his team so long to win the GP2 championship because he has never wanted to take a risk on an under-funded driver.
New Lotus-Renault Formula 1 signing Romain Grosjean dominated the 2011 GP2 season for DAMS, giving the French squad its first main series title since the category began in 2005.
Driot feels that his team has always been capable of fighting for the championship, but it has always taken drivers with a budget to avoid any risk of financial troubles.
"At this level it is very difficult to win the championship," Driot told AUTOSPORT. "You have to be exceptional. But as usual, there are budget issues."
DAMS was able to take Grosjean for 2011 because the team found a sponsor to fund his seat, meaning that for the first time in GP2 is was able to take a driver based purely on ability.
"You need a driver in his second year," Driot added. "Plenty of teams, even in Formula 1, would be willing to take drivers with more talent, but they have to go for drivers who are bringing money. This has happened for years.
"Unfortunately most of the time we cannot get the driver we would like. But if you have a good sponsor and you can choose the good drivers, then I think you can remain at the top. This is what I am trying to do.
"If you have an experienced team, and you have won before then you know what winning is like. The problem is to maintain the same quality every season."

Doesn't really affect me, but worth noting anyway. I have to admit I was quite annoyed with him in 07/08 because he just wouldn't shut up about Hambone, but once we got Leggard in all was forgiven. Overall I wouldn't mind seeing him team up with Brundle again at SKY, but they got some other guy so we will see.
