ok here is the pic is was looking for. At Melbourne, Webber crashed in quali right in front of us. seriously like 4 feet away. I noticed the rear wing looked like it was split down the middle (vertically). Im not sure if it was an optical illusion or something that is hidden by the logos when on tv and in pictures.

its like two half rear wings.

Police in the UK could soon give speeding crooks a bit of a shock by chasing them down in 200mph Formula 1 supercars.

The space-age looking machine, the Caparo T1, is a two-seater 200mph car that is designed by the same engineers who made the McLaren F1 car driven by Lewis Hamilton.

According to the Daily Star, the Metropolitan Police are looking to use it as a rapid response vehicle to react to 999 calls after the car was given the all-clear to be used on UK roads.

A police source said: "The Caparo would ensure officers can get to the scene of a crime faster. It's certainly something we'll be looking at getting."

Lewis Hamilton has moved into pole position as Britain's highest-paid sportsman, according to The Times' latest Rich List.

Hamilton, who came second in the F1 World Championship during his rookie season last year, has eclipsed England football star David Beckham as the best-paid sportsman in Britain.

The 23-year-old already has a basic salary of £75 million with McLaren over the next five years.

Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy salary and commercial endorsements earn him in the region of £16 million a year.

However, Hamilton is set to sign a sponsorship three-deal in the region of £10 million with Reebok which will make him one of the company's "global brand ambassadors".

McLaren, known for forbidding their drivers to sign personal image rights deals, has given their young star their full blessing to sign the mega deal with the sports equipment manufacturer.

"We can confirm that Lewis Hamilton's father and manager Anthony has been in discussions with Reebok with regard to a personal sponsorship for Lewis," a McLaren spokesperson said.

Hamilton is reportedly also in negotiations with drinks manufacturer Pepsi about a seven-figure deal.

It is believed the McLaren driver could command career earnings of more than £500 million over 10 years, which would put the £500 million Michael Schumacher earned during a 17-year career well in the shade.

lame... he hasn't done anything yet, he's fast, but until he wins some world titles, he's got nothing but being quick...

he "almost" won the world championship in his first year.

button was britain's last big f1 hero. he got heaps and heaps of press. if scott speed or whoever was in the same position, how much cash would he be making from sponsorship in the u.s.?

it gets tiresome when you guys continually bag him when he is exactly what f1 needed.

It would have been just as cool if it was rosberg, kovi, piquet etc. Young guns move in and kick the old school out but that hasnt been the case for so,so long.

is it tall poppy syndrome?

i'll bet $1000 usd that hamilton wins the cookie within the next five years. any takers?

I think some are tired of the sack-riding of Hamliton. I'm def. a fan of his and i'm not sure why he is hated on so much, but when we watch Speed or ITV, it's Hamilton 24-7. It gets a little old at times...

Still, I can't wait ti'll he proves everyone wrong. I think he's a pretty cool dood that just wants to drive race cars.

Seriously? To me, they seem to mention him in ever 3rd or 4th sentence. Not that I care, I like the fella...I think he's really down to earth. I like the fact that he pulled in only 75mil over 5 years. Sure it's a lot, but he could've really pushed his luck and tried to get even more. Look at what some of the top drivers are making in F1 right now, 45mil (KR) and 50mil (FA) a year. And it's not like KR had won anything before he got to Ferrari...

I'm sure Massa is being paid quite well too...

But his racing is a buisness decision as well so I don't fault him on his sponsorships. Anyone else would do the very same thing.

"almost" doesn't get you a wdc title. there are a lot of "almost" runner ups, but that still isn't #1.
given he went to a top team straight off the bat, hopefully he would've done good, hell, look at Kovy and what happened with him when he got a good car under him...

of course he'll win a wdc sooner or later that's a given.

What really impresses me about LH, is his strong mental attributes. Stronger then a lot out there...He has such a strong core, that nothing thrown at him really shakes him. Top team yes. But pushing your WDC team-mate to the brinks and causing him to crumple with your relentless consistency is a daunting task. He fought like a veteren, not a rookie. Look at Kovy, Piquet, and countless other rookies who came in...the only other rookie in recent past to make an impact like LH has was JV.

I also respect that he wants to win on the track - not thru cheating (MS), thru whining (FA), or thru the courts (when McLaren wanted to fight KR for the WDC).

When he makes a mistake, he bounces back, learns from it and becomes stronger...

based on what i've been seeing going on this year with the privileges that Lewis is getting (personal sponsorships/McLaren F1 LM) that Kovy isn't getting, I do have to tend to agree with Alonso that the team is biased towards Lewis.

Also, with his attitude change from last year to this year, don't be fooled that lewis won't be doing the same thing others have done in the past, remember, that was his rookie year, give him time to join the darkside...

i wouldnt call the personal sponsorships a privilege that lewis has and that kovi has not been granted. whos to say that he just hasnt had any offers like lewis has? you do have to remember that lewis is simply more of a marketable personality. racing talent aside he has the most marketability potential in the entire f1 grid simply because he's willing to do his promotional duties with a smile and is a young and upcoming talent. it also helps that he's black, but thats just the icing on the cake.

McLaren doesn't allow their drivers to have personal sponsorship. when was the last time you saw a McLaren driver do something like this? Are you saying that before Lewis, none of the other drivers were marketable?

Testing continued today at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France. Once again all ten teams lapped on a configuration of the circuit which is aimed to replicate the demands of the forthcoming Monaco Grand Prix.

Kimi Raikkonen set the pace today for Ferrari, putting in 102 laps and setting a best lap of 1:05.381s on his 36th tour of the day. The championship leader lapped just over two-tenths faster than Wednesday pace setter Lewis Hamilton.

Heikki Kovalainen took over testing duties at McLaren Mercedes and set the second fastest time today, just under a tenth of a second slower than Raikkonen. Robert Kubica continued with BMW Sauber and set third fastest time half a second off the ultimate pace.

David Coulthard was on duty for Red Bull Renault today, setting the fourth fastest time ahead of Jenson Button who got plenty of mileage in the latest Honda RA108 package. Over at Toro Rosso Ferrari Sebastien Bourdais got another taste of the new STR3 package and thankfully for him and the team there was no repeat of the Barcelona incident that cost the team so much time.

Jarno Trulli set the seventh best time today in his Toyota ahead of Nelson Piquet who putting in a stunning 193 laps over the day in his Renault. Towards the bottom of the timesheets and Kazuki Nakajima ser the ninth best time while the Force India duo of Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella shared a car to set the tenth and 11th fastest time respectively.
