McLaren doesn't allow their drivers to have personal sponsorship. when was the last time you saw a McLaren driver do something like this? Are you saying that before Lewis, none of the other drivers were marketable?

no, i just dont remember any cases where mclaren stated that they didt allow personal sponsors. obviously fred brought MM with him, and ayrton had Nacional.

:bowrofl: There has to be some backlash against this faggot...he's run an up & coming team into the ground, killed another which was a fan favorite....Honda corp can't be pleased with this faggot, ross is probably fuming and just wishing he'd shut his fucking mouth....anyone feel like editing him into the background of the mad max video and seeing if we can't get his pimply, aids-ridden ass out of f1?

I don't know if Honda is happy or no hpapy with Fry. I just hope they aren't and see him for what it is, and can him. He has brought nothing good to the grid other than kill everyone's favorite underdog and kill a good team...

Seriously? To me, they seem to mention him in ever 3rd or 4th sentence. Not that I care, I like the fella...I think he's really down to earth. I like the fact that he pulled in only 75mil over 5 years. Sure it's a lot, but he could've really pushed his luck and tried to get even more. Look at what some of the top drivers are making in F1 right now, 45mil (KR) and 50mil (FA) a year. And it's not like KR had won anything before he got to Ferrari...

I'm sure Massa is being paid quite well too...

But his racing is a buisness decision as well so I don't fault him on his sponsorships. Anyone else would do the very same thing.

And it was perfectly fine to ride Kimi's balls before he won a championship.

I don't get it.

"almost" doesn't get you a wdc title. there are a lot of "almost" runner ups, but that still isn't #1.
given he went to a top team straight off the bat, hopefully he would've done good, hell, look at Kovy and what happened with him when he got a good car under him...

of course he'll win a wdc sooner or later that's a given.

He's losing to Hamilton, point for point, in the same car.

Alonso technically lost to Hammy (at WORST tied Hammy) in the same car. This was the man that usurped Michael Fucking Schumacher.

Kimi had years at McLaren with no WDC.

The massive hate bandwagon seem to come mostly from anyone who's historically preferred driver has been threatened or beaten by Hamilton.... which is just about everyone.

Say what you want, but the guy still put it on Kimi and Massa (and even Alonso) in his first few debut races. And continues to bring passing outside of the pits back to the front of the F1 field.

I think the hammy-hate-train was started by the overwhelming twerpiness and faggotry of black jesus...emo threatened schumi but most people didn't start hating him until he went all-bitch in '06.

Hammy is fast, but is also owner of the biggest WDC choke in recent memory....lets not give anyone more praise than their due.

And this is very common brit phenomenon...see ricky hatton, david beckham, etc...he is a young, quick driver with a bit of an attitude...that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

i take the hate as just playful bashing. but no question he's a talented driver..

the only concrete piece of 'overhype' lewis has received IMO is the book that claimed he won the 2007 WDC, that and the book titled 'lewis hamilton: the peoples champion'... thats just :bowrofl:

my dislike for Lewis started when his head starting getting too big...
First few races I liked the kid, thought he was good, then he developed an attitude...

hell, his first couple interviews this season were a little too arrogant.. "how did you know i didn't have more fuel?" etc...

I have no issues with him being a fast driver, because he is good, no question about it, just his attitude about things and favortism get to me... simple as that. Sure he finished runner up, great, but he didn't win. Sure he passed the likes of Alonso and Kimi, good for him, so did Sato last year in a car far inferior to the McLarens, have a cookie.

Wait. What? What arrogance? Are we watching the same LH here? He's allowed to be arrogant b/c he's fast. But he's never been out right "I'm faster than you" kind of cocky, like RS or JV. Not to mentioned he congratulated KR after he beat him to the title. And said as much that he won fair and square. Are you guys sure your hate for LH isn't b/c your fave driver is being beat? The only thing I thought was a bit much from his part has been the book. Even I have to laugh at that, but the rest of it really doesn't hold face value for me.

The crap that everyone gives him for being in a fast car, does everyone forget that Fred was in the exact same car. And to be perfectly fair, McLaren, even after the spy-gate fall out with Fred, still gave him a car perfectly able to win a championship.

The choking thing...I don't think is fair either. In China, the team kept him out on worn tires. He could've played his hands better in Brazil, sure. But I loved how he tried to fight for first, and not settle for points. It's a fighting spirit that has won my admiration for him. Furthermore, he brings real enthusiasm to the sport. When Nico scored his podium at the beginning of the race, that was man to man...a real congrats from LH. Better than a Fisi/Wubens/DC just coasting along...

I've never liked fisi or wubens, and I hate coulthard.

Part of what annoys is the unnecessary praise heaped upon him because of his country...if a fin or a pole or a german did the same thing at the same age, he wouldn't have anywhere near salary/press/books/endorsements/celebrity and the (brit) media would have roasted him for his failure late last year.

He's not totally classless, just annoyingly cocky without having won a damn thing...he's already been elected the black & brit schumi, and by his attitude he seems to believe it, but hasn't really accomplished anything yet.

And no, I don't hate hammy because he beats nick on a regular basis...I don't hate kimi, robert, or massa because they've been kicking the crap out of him every sunday.

Pretty sure he's won a nice share of his GPs, and placed higher than any rookie has, ever, AND beat his 2 time WDC teammate. But i guess that doesn't count, somehow. A bunch of F1 drivers have done that in their entire careers, let alone their first season, right?

Again, TONS of people rode kimi's balls before he won a WDC, and you seldom saw anyone bitch that he 'hadn't won shit' and didn't deserve praise/fans.

If the Fins or the Germans, or hell, anyone, had a new, rookie driver hit with such an impact on the sport straight away, you're out of your mind if you don't think that their country, and F1 in general, wouldn't have made them an instant celebrity. Especially with F1 desperate for that personality to step up and fill MS' old 'Face of F1' role.

Hell, Freddo move OR Massa hadn't would have landed the rookie as WDC.

Hamilton haters seem to ignore that fact alot.

If a German, a Pole or a Fin did the same thing, sure they would get the same praise...in their native country. But since we speak English for the most part, and watch English TV, we get the media attention on their driver.

For example, before FA came along, F1 wasn't all that big in Spain. I think the tides have turned...

I "kinda" agree with this. Although Emotardo lost all of his appeal to me when he became a whining fagatron a couple years ago...

I don't think Hammy is a douche, just a lil arrogant...

Both are still AWESOME drivers though.
