So all the comments from mcmerc seem to point to kimi returning etc etc

this will be the biggest most awesome troll in F1 if this whole thing doesnt go through and Fred goes to Brawn or something

That would be hilarious.

But I'm actually interested to see how Hamilton does against Kimi in identical equipment. Having both Kimi and Alonso as teammates would be pretty telling in terms of 1:1 comparisons....

I think with a good car under him, Kimi will be back to 2007 race pace...
with McLaren and Ferrari 2009 cars sucking because of the late start of the development due to 2008 season, the 2010 cars in theory should be quick...
so either way if Kimi stays at Ferrari or moves to McLaren, the cars should be good... :o

I think McLaren currently has an advantage on Ferrari, but who knows what next year will bring. But with the rules not being totally rewritten, developments from this year will carry over, so continuing on the 09 car isn't a total waste.

Although I don't fully agree that good car = good Kimi. Look at last year....

Does anyone else think that Boobens is going to get reckless in these last few races, trying to take nips out of Jenson? From his immediate question on the radio about catching Button when informed of the brake issues to this

Boobens takes out Jenson in the last 3 races trying too hard to race his teammate, which Seb wins, to take the title? :o It'd almost be like 07 at McMerc/Ferrari

skittle will manage to muck it up somehow

Nelson Piquet sr has launched another scathing attack on Renault, claiming the team "was managed by Fernando Alonso himself".

The French-based team were last week slapped with a suspended two-year ban after Nelson Piquet jr deliberately crashed his car during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix while former team boss Flavio Briatore was handed an effective lifetime ban for his involvement.

Piquet sr says his son was under enormous pressure at Renault and claims the whole debacle was "inevitable".

"This is not something that should exist in motor racing," Nelson Piquet Sr told the Brazilian media. "In my career I would never have thought about doing something like this. But the circumstances that made him do this were inevitable. He was under great pressure.

"This year was really very bad due to the favouring in terms of cars that Renault gave to Alonso. The team was not even managed by Briatore: it was managed by Alonso himself.

The former World Champion is also adamant that his son didn't come up with the idea to crash.

"Two hours before the race [Briatore] said [to Piquet Jr]: 'If you want to help the team then you have to do this'," Piquet said. "He accepted doing something under great pressure from Renault. He didn't have much else to lose in terms of his career.

"I knew that this was a crime. Manipulating the result of a race is a criminal act. There is no room for this in sport and especially when it is premeditated."

Sebastien Loeb has confirmed reports that he is set to test a GP2 car run by the British team David Price Racing.

The multiple World Rally Champion said on his official website that he will attend the last of three days of GP2 testing at the Jerez circuit next Thursday.

The report said 35-year-old Loeb, who wants to race for Toro Rosso at the 2009 season finale in Abu Dhabi, has also been regularly karting with a weighted helmet to strengthen his neck muscles.

"If his participation at the last Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi takes shape, the driver (Loeb) will have done his utmost to be ready," the report at sebastienloeb.com reads.

Fernando Alonso's new Ferrari contract could see him race for the famous Italian team until the end of the 2015 season and earn him 150 million euros, according to reports on Tuesday in the Spanish press.

The reports, in the newspapers AS and Diario Sport based mainly on the information of the radio station SER, said Spaniard Alonso, 27, is guaranteed three seasons at Maranello with an automatic option to extend in 2013 and 2014.

In addition to the terms of three years plus two, yet another conditional option to extend until the end of 2015 is reportedly also included. It is believed he will earn about 25 million euros every year.

The document has purportedly already been deposited with the Contract Recognition Board, and could be announced officially at 10am local from the Suzuka circuit in Japan on Thursday.

However, Italy's Corriere dello Sport claimed that while an announcement on Thursday is likely, the official news might also have to wait until Friday.

Former twice world champion Alonso, who has driven for Minardi and McLaren and is moving from his current team Renault, is also expected to take with him some of his preferred engineers.

His replacement at Renault will almost certainly be the Pole Robert Kubica, whose teammate will be the incumbent Romain Grosjean.
