not sure if anyone has read this article yet, but he doesn make some good points:

http://www.grandprix...ns/ns20360.html

especially about profit sharing and berney not getting 50%.

ibberneydidit....anyone else think max got ecclestOWNED? Doesn't make him any less of a creepy freak though.

Wow...they're friends too, but as BE has proven before in the past, he's willing to walk over Jesus's grave if he can earn another cent. How come this sort of revelation doesn't suprise me one bit.

Freak or not, I'd love to see someone challenge BE and give more money to the teams so they can develop the sport...instead of lining BE's pockets.

If true...all hearsay right now

But MadMax has proven himself a proponent for the teams, trying to help them save money, even if they were a bit mis-guided (no tire changes, V10 -> V8, engine freezes.)
And I really like his ideas on KER...

i dont know about the KERS thing anymore. Racecar Engineering had a little blurb about how the system they're using is outdated and underutilized to boot. it's a step in the right direction though i suppose.

Who is "they're" because from what I understand each team is allowed free reign on how they design their system. I can see Honda & Toyota following their current methods of hybrid technology. But everyone else, it'll be interesting to see what they do...

...unless I have it all wrong

I was under this impression too...whether flywheel or battery or whatever, each team could develop their own solution with the only limitations being a energy and time cap.

Former seven-times F1 world champion Michael Schumacher WILL race this weekend in Germany's leading bike racing series, the IDM Superbike championship.

The 37-year-old is set to be a wildcard in the race at Oschershleben aboard a Honda CBR1000RR entered by current series champions Holzhauer Racing, alongside German superbike champion Martin Bauer.

See the entry list here

An official press release from the series organisers says: "The most prominent starter of the weekend is the sevenfold F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, racing in the IDM Superbike class on a Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade of the Holzhauer Racing team with approximately 190 HP.

"In recent weeks Schumacher has tested several times with the team, at the Pannoniaring (Hungary), the EuroSpeedway Lausitz and also in Oschersleben.

"Both of the team's professional riders - Austrian Martin Bauer (32), last year champion of the IDM Superbike series - and the 20-year old Mattias von Hammerstein supported Schumacher with the tests, with which he surprised many experts with fast times."

Schumacher's entry into the race explains the rapid sequence of club races he has recently entered - which saw him riding in Spain and Italy and completing three events in less than two weeks - as he needed the experience to gain the licence to race in the superbike championship.

Despite all this, Schumacher maintains he only races bikes "for fun"

I would think Honda would be looking to sign a top young driver regardless of ethnicity. As much as I like Sato, he is not that guy.

Heard an interesting rumour today.......

Renault is tapping the Japanese sponsors market with Yamamoto-chan and Sato-san.
Would be very diabolical yet fantastic to boost their budget AND great news for Sato if it is true.

Although I must say that should Sato-san go back to Honda and team up with Button, I wonder if he will show his maturity and who knows, even prove more of a challenge to Button than Rubens now.

According to Williams, Renault would be wasting their time.

Williams has admitted they've had a very difficult time trying to get Japanese money for Kazuki Nakajima. :squint:

well that may be true, but Williams is also a privateer team, and Kaz gets all his money from Toyota anyways.

only time vettel finishes a race this season and he still gets screwed :noes: poor guy..

Toro Rosso Ferrari racer Sebastian Vettel will approach next week's Monaco Grand Prix with both a new car and a penalty.

The new STR3 requires a different gearbox installation to its predecessor, the 2007-spec STR2B that had been raced by the German, and his French team-mate Sebastien Bourdais, at the first five races of the season.

This year's rules stipulate a mandatory four-race life per gearbox, meaning that Vettel - to use a different gearbox at Monaco to the one that he drove to 17th place in Turkey - will receive a five-position demotion on the grid.

The same penalty will not apply to Bourdais, because the 29-year-old did not finish at Istanbul last Sunday.

"Monte Carlo is the last place you want a punishment like that," the Faenza-based team's team co-owner Gerhard Berger lamented to the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

The Austrian meanwhile slammed suggestions that F1's proposed budget cap could kick in at as much as 175 million Euros in 2009.

"That is absolute insanity," Berger said. "How can we save money like that?

"It doesn't even include driver salaries nor contain the engine costs. In other words, the manufacturers don't want to save anything at all.

"175 million? A real private team could never afford a budget like that."

The Sunday Times reports that an officer of MI5, Britain's secret service agency, was forced to resign last month after admitting that his wife was present amongst the five prostitutes playing parts in the sadomasochistic sex session ordered by FIA President Max Mosley, which was video recorded and made public by the News of the World newspaper.

Underlining the high standards of behaviour expected of all the service's staff, an official stated that MI5 was not in any way involved in the operation that saw Mosley's activities exposed, although the officer in question may have worked in military surveillance before joining MI5.

"Any suggestion that the service was involved in setting up Mosley is total nonsense," the official declared.

The newspaper at the origin of the Mosley story also denied that any cooperation took place with the British secret service.

MI5 is now determining if the officer in question knew of his wife's activities and if so, if he took profit from it. It is believed his wife might be the source of the video featured online by the News of the World tabloid.

Apart from the link to the Mosley scandal, a thorough investigation is underway to determine if any state secrets might have been compromised.

"Clearly there would be a conflict there for any member of the service. Prostitutes by the very nature of their business will be connected to people who are probably in the criminal fraternity," a source told the Sunday Times.

"This is an astonishing piece of information, which I will pass on to my legal advisers," the newspaper quotes Mosley as saying.

It is interesting to note, from a historical standpoint, that the British secret service had infiltrated the British Union of Fascists founded by Oswald Mosley, Max's father, during the 1930s. The information gathered eventually led to Mosley Snr's arrest in 1940.

Hakkinen flees burning house in France
The trophies might be lost...

Former World Champion Mika Hakkinen had to flee one of his homes on Saturday after it caught fire while he slept, according to reports.
The 39-year-old Finn, and two women - one believed to be his new girlfriend - escaped the blaze in southern France, but a dog reportedly perished.
They were taken to hospital as a precaution but later discharged without injury.
Two of the villa's three storeys were extensively damaged, and the fire is believed to have been traced to an electrical fault in a cabinet displaying the trophies of the former McLaren driver.

Hakkinen's $12m, ten-bedroom villa was located in the village of Callian, in the Provence region.
