How does F1 expect to survive by cutting off the Brits? half of F1's fan-base come from there and Eccelstone wants to kill the British GP? Does this make sense to anyone??

there is an article in F1racing and in Jackie Stewart's book about how people like Bernie Ecclestone,Ross Brawn, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams, Lewis Hamilton etc etc got their first taste of f1 Silverstone as children and how Formula One as we know it would not exist so we need it for the future.
Also that the UK government should put in money to fund it because 90% of the industry is based in the UK and the economy will suffer if we dont contiunue to bring in the new generation.

when Sir Jackie speaks, the F1 world should pay attention. He has good points quite often, despite the fact he's a mad scot

Could Heikki be worse? I mean honestly, he's tied with Mark Webber in points.
he's seemed to have dropped off the radar after his accident... lack of confidence?

He fought back to a helluva 4th place. Minimized the damage that is now a clusterfuck of an McLaren team - I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Williams keen to forget 'mediocre' race
Sunday, 22 June 2008 15:44
The Williams team is desperate to improve for its home race after a poor French Grand Prix performance.
Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg came home only 15th and 16th at Magny-Cours, having never looked like challenging for points.
Engineering director Patrick Head admitted that the performance had been nowhere near good enough.
"That was a very mediocre performance," he said.
"From here, we must go away and try to understand our mistakes and put them right to come out fighting at Silverstone because I am sure that we can do better than we managed today."
Rosberg started at the back after his penalty for the Montreal pit crash, and used a unique one stop strategy in a bid to make progress.
But despite not pitting until lap 41 of 70, he gained few positions and was devastated by Williams' slump in form.
"In Canada, I was fighting the Ferraris and the BMWs, and here I was fighting at the back of the pack," Rosberg said.
"It’s incredible, and not a very nice feeling.
"I thought I would be able to fight a bit more; I was giving it my all as usual, but the car simply didn’t have the speed and it was very difficult.
"I am now looking to score some points at Silverstone - at least I won’t have a grid penalty there."
Nakajima also felt he had got the most out of an off-the-pace car.
"All weekend we’ve been suffering with a lack of pace and that hurt us during the race," said the Japanese rookie.
"We couldn’t have done much better today."

I think it's time for Nico to bail on Williams, altho I admire his tenacity and loyalty to the team. I just don't see it being rewarded at the end. Williams is a far ways off from being a consistent championship fighting team.
i think DC gets the boot and gets replaced by vettel, so even though he has the schumacher tie-in to ferrari he's probably gonna stay in the RB family.

Maybe Nico will get a shot at it, who knows. Or Nico could go to Toyota and take Glock's seat. Or maybe even fill a vacated Kubica seat. It really all depends on where Alonso is going next year I suppose. I'd just like to see Nico get a chance at the title and not become a lifer at a dead in the water team. I like him a lot...Down to earth and fast when he gets a decent car.

Mario Theissen has played down speculation he is keen on putting Fernando Alonso at the wheel of a BMW Sauber in 2009.
"That is not my style," the German squad's boss is quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper Diario AS.
"I would prefer to have a young driver who then grows with the team to become an expensive champion," Theissen stated.
AS speculates that Theissen's comments could be interpreted as the BMW chief wanting to 'lower the price' of employing the 26-year-old former double title winner in 2009.

Ferrari will see Alonso or Kubica for sure fill that seat.
