now i'm not saying drivers are pussies

getting rid of tire warmers will only make the racing better with more passing and sliding around. the whole sport revolves around risk management and getting the maximum out of the car no matter what the circumstances are, so i think they should be able to manage cold tires for a couple laps coming out of the pits. Champ Car didn't use tire warmers.

so ya, basically they're pussies

I agree.

Tire warmers are one of those things that add nothing to the excitement of racing. They probably take away from it, if anything.

:werd:

How often is there a pass right after a pit-out? Next to never. F1 would be a fuckton more exciting if it was not only about neating the guy behind you out of the pits, but trying to block the guy while nursing your cold tires up to temp for 3 laps...

i had never really thought about that, it would improve the racing for sure... but i think the point is that if they ban tire warmers, the teams will come up with a new (and expensive) way to heat the tires.

In between pit stops I'd aim my microwave ray gun at the other team's microwave ray guns, trying to blow their shit up :hahano:

Or just aim at people's nuts - lets see those other pit crews try change wheels when their testicles are on fire!

:werd: ray guns FTW

Hamilton: Media will be back on my side

By Matt Beer and Pablo Elizalde Friday, June 27th 2008, 16:26 GMT

Lewis Hamilton says the media "will be back on my side" once he starts performing strongly following the criticism he has been subject to.

The McLaren driver was criticised by the British media after his crash with Kimi Raikkonen during the Canadian Grand Prix.

Hamilton had another weekend to forget in France last weekend after having to serve two penalties, one for his Canadian crash and another for cutting through a chicane during the Magny-Cours.

The Briton, who has dropped to fourth place in the standings, was defiant after Sunday's race, saying the press will not distract him.

Hamilton admitted he is not a fan of facing the media as soon as he gets out the car, but the McLaren driver is convinced he will get support when he starts winning again.

"You've just done an hour and a half race and worked your backside off, and then they expect you to sit down and straightaway get out of the car and talk to people," Hamilton told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Are you crazy? Damn man, I'm knackered! I need a drink! Sometimes I like to do that.

"But I feel that I've had so much support from the media, especially last year and in the build-up to this year, and I know that with the performance that I'll have coming up, I feel that they'll be back on my side and they'll continue supporting me."

He doesnt seem to mind talking to the media after hes won a race, but when he bum rushes somebody - they are a nuisance.

Better to have the media back on your side than on your backside, amirite?

Hamilton's gotta learn when to shut his mouth. I try to like the kid, he's fast, but he's making himself look like a fool with all this commentary.

Just keep quiet and win some more races first. Feel free to run your mouth when you've got a WDC.

And in other news, many of the participants are now deaf. Others are experiencing a constant ring in their ears. Doctors say "too bad you dumbasses" :(

It was a little anticlimatic. What if DC or SB let the clutch out too soon and the F1 car shot forward :(!

On-track hostilities for the British Grand Prix got an early start this week, as two competitors collided during the final day of pre-race testing at the Silverstone circuit on Thursday.

Timo Glock 'decided to attack' David Coulthard as the pair tackled the Stowe corner, the Scot's team Red Bull Racing said in a media document at the end of the day.

"The German driver immediately apologised, but didn't come round to the garage to help with repairs," the Milton-Keynes based squad's tongue-in-cheek PR department added.

Glock was stranded in the pits for two hours after the clash, as Toyota mechanics replaced his lost wing and rebuilt the rear of his car as a precaution.

"It was a misunderstanding - when I turned in at the end of the Hangar straight David was there," Glock said.

"I just didn't see him so I apologise for that."

I don't know why I found this funny....
