Mercedes telling Bottas to abort fastest lap attempt
I get it but man… demoralizing

They knew Lewis was going to slap on fresh softs and go for a last lap dash, I think that call to abort was really unnecessaryI get it but man demoralizing

Why does it seem like he always drives a bit faster during contract renewal time? Why not just make that the baseline?Giovinazzi did really well. Making a good case for staying on the grid next year.

Bottas to Sauber, Russel to Mercedes, wonder who'll get the 2nd seats at Alfa and Williams.

Albon should get the seat at Williams unless Toto blocks it. I agree with Binotto that engine suppliers shouldn't dictate who their customer team chooses to have as drivers, but a bit rich coming from Ferrari and using Haas for the FCA drivers.Bottas to Sauber, Russel to Mercedes, wonder who'll get the 2nd seats at Alfa and Williams.

the thing about Bottas is that he is clearly number 2… he’s very much mathematically been in the hunt for several seasons, but he’s always been asked/told to slow down and let Lewis get the most points very early in every season. And year to years contracts every season? Talk about stability.

It was almost not a silly season.
The part that's a bit questionable is why in all the Williams announcements about the signings is that Albon is wearing an Alpha Tauri shirt... but he's the reserve / test driver for Red Bull...
Curious as to the release cause on that one...

But that said, who had a McLaren 1-2, with Bottas on the podium after starting from the back on their bingo card?
Where did McLaren get that pace? Straight line and through the curves. What?

I think it was more of a bad track for high rake cars and uncharacteristically off pace Mercedes, plus super difficult to overtake. Gap between Ferrari and McLaren was pretty consistent to other races and had max got the jump on the start I think he would have won by 30sec.Lame.

That was a race. Crazy last half and nuts last 3 laps.
Lando went big, but had to go home. So close.
Max from last to P2.
Lewis with 100 wins... that record will take a while to beat...

Yeah, I was gutted for Lando The way things are going now, I don't know if that record will be topped any time soon...

And he still has what... another 2 seasons to extend that? Shummi stopped racing (with a win) in 2006... so the record stood for 14 years give or take (Lewis broke the 91 win record last season)...
Also... this is

How much worse does that graphic look if you remove 2021?

I think Mercedes percentage goes up since you lose Williams and McLaren... RedBull won't change too much?
