you sure Rossi doesn't want to switch?
they always start on shifter karts
Valentino Rossi emerged victorious in a Superkart 'exhibition' race against three American former world champions as part of the Laguna Seca build-up yesterday.
The Italian took on Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts Sr in a one-lap sprint around the United States Grand Prix venue in Superkarts.
Although the event was billed as a demonstration run, it culminated with Rossi 'winning' by a healthy margin.
"Honestly I was bit nervous about the Superkarts before because I know how fast these things are," said Rossi. "I sometimes drive one in Italy with friends, just for fun, but I know that Kenny, Eddie and Wayne like to race and they're quite serious!
"Also this isn't the easiest track. Anyway, it was great fun and I enjoyed myself a lot. The kart is quite incredible; the gearbox is very good and in the hard braking areas it's really impressive. It feels very fast and it's possible to have a lot of fun."

Why did they resign him? Because they had no choice. According to Mark Hughes, it is a well-known fact up and down the paddock that Kimi was the one who activated the option on his contract. He had the option to renew as long as he is within a certain percentage of the WDC points.
He wrote this in a column on Autosport subscription. Why this hasn't gone public in a such big way that a diehard Kimi fan like yourself would/should know...I really have no idea.

Jul.27 (GMM) The Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS believes it is possible that Fernando Alonso will replace Felipe Massa at the forthcoming European grand prix.
The Italian team is currently contemplating a replacement for 28-year-old Massa, who is recovering in Budapest from head injuries sustained during a qualifying incident last Saturday.
Alonso had already been linked with a move to Ferrari in 2010 or beyond, and he is suddenly now without a cockpit for his second home race after his team Renault was issued a one-race ban for an incident during the Hungarian grand prix.
The AS report claims that, by incurring the penalty, Renault - which intends to appeal the verdict - broke a "basic commitment" enshrined in Alonso's contract; that the French carmaker must offer the two-time world champion a cockpit at every grand prix in 2009.
