Vettel was a world class dick in this race, but I don't know why Webber would expect anything less than this from his teammate. The way I see it, Vettel is probably moving to Ferrari next year, so Webber has 2 choices. Be a team player and retain his seat for next yr, or secure another drive for next yr, then crashing out trying to kick Vettel's ass all season long.

What Vettel did this weekend was reduce his chances of winning a 4th title this yr, don't expect Webber to help him out with traffic to maximize points comes seasons end if the championship comes down to the wire.

What ever happened to the old saying about the first person you want to beat is the guy in equal machinery (aka: your teammate)?

Also, I don't remember Webber ever helping Vettel in his 'chips. He's a good driver but he really is a number 2 at redbull. Not because he can't win or doesn't get the same upgrades, but because he can't go toe to toe against Vettel for a complete season. A few races here and there but not a constant threat.

The only way Seb would go to Ferrari is if Alonso is goine, and I don't see that happening...

This.

Webber has a better chance of going to Ferrari than Seb

Seb right after the race:

I messed up today, I apologise for that but right now I want to say the truth. I wasn't aware of it [the team orders] otherwise I wouldn't take that much risk to pass someone I'm not supposed to pass at that moment.

But obviously just before we got out on the podium, I had a very quick word and it was quite a shock [to find out about the team orders]. It's not easy for me to admit but that's the truth so I want to stick to the truth.

One day later:

I got the call and I ignored it. Mark and I are used to fighting each other when we're close, but with the tyres how they are now, and not knowing how long they will last, it was an extremely big risk to ignore the call to stay second. We could have ended up finishing eighth or ninth after destroying the tyres in those two laps; I put myself above a team decision, which was wrong. I didn't mean to and I apologise,

I wish I had the talent to accidentally win a F1 race :wtc:

Vettel acted like a world class dick. But that's the way F1 is these days and few drivers are like the drivers of old (Ie: Moss, Hill, Stewart, etc). It all started with Senna and elevated w/ Schumi...the "I must win at all cost" mentality is a result of how much safer it is these days. That's why I've become more of a Button fan as of late - he's not the fastest but he drives fairly and with class. FA also drives relatively clean. Webber, Vettel, Malanado are the worse offenders IMO in the current field..

And Webber's right about "protection." There's nothing RB can really do to Vettel - he's the golden child at the team. Regardless, Seb's rep has always taken a beating since he only wins in a Newey machine. This doesn't help his rep very much either...

As for "Team orders" it is in the end a team sport. You have to collect points for the constructors first, drivers second. That's where you make the money at. So although I hate that team orders sometimes 'fixes' a result, I don't think it's BS. I love how it adds another layer of complexity that is Formula One.

Maybe all of the drivers are d-bags and it is up to the media to villanize the guy winning consistently.

But in the end, it's up to you to take the information and decidewhether they are villains or gents. The media can only do so much to portray one way or another...i mean when RB themselves are not defending their prodigy child in the public...that says a lot.

Especially Marko Helmut. Shocking that he didn't immediately jump on the defense.

That guy...if it weren't for his crazy one liners today, would actually be really high up on my "badass dudes" list. Instead, every time I read his quote, I end up looking like the Jackie Chan:

Brundle said of Webber, "He's not going to trust them that it will all take place, so he will keep racing."

Oh no, a race driver is going to have to keep racing to win... for shame...

“If this was a poll of public opinion, you'd probably say Vettel has gone down a few points and Webber has gone up a few”

Webber can win the popularity contest all he wants, Vettels got 3 shiny trophies in his closet....

seriously... lame...

Sadly, I missed the drama as baby was in full meltdown and I can only pause the race so many times before conceding defeat.

What occurs to me is how this may not be great for red bull...the drinks company, not the racing team. Clearly, red bull throws gobs of money at RBR as an advertising expenditure - advertising that doesn't include Jordan hitting a game winning jumper, Tiger nailing a chip shot, or Tom Brady throwing a TD.

The theme of all of their advertising is lifestyle pantomime; its doing something that's never been done before. It's bigger than run-of-the-mill opponent vanquishing, and it sure as hell isn't chicken shit pips of a teammate.

There's an internal rebuke of Vettel coming, and it's not coming from Marko or Horner - it's coming from the people who sign Marko's and Horner's checks.

Honestly though, I love this whole team order ordeal. It really adds another level of dynamics as to how F1 works and something that you can't define by the numbers. It's so much better than the thinly veiled "Driver A is faster than you, do you copy?" kind of crap they had when team orders were banned. Team orders has been and will forever be apart of F1 because of the nature of the sport. A balance between the need of the team vs the ego of the driver.

As for Pirelli tires - I love it. I hate watching processions - and if the drivers have to drive at 85% of the car's limit to watch their tire wear so that I may enjoy a damn good race, fine by me!

Drama is good as long as that German prick doesn't win it again.

Old Advert of Vettel and Webber on the 'Ring sync'd up with last weeks race. First one at 1:40secs, the second one at :55. It's awkwardly hilarious!
