Pedro is possibly going to have the hardest season he's had to face in a very long time.
Good to have the Rossi of old back, between him and Marc,. 2 cut throat riders with a no mercy attitude, definitely going to ruffle a few feathers.
Lorenzo is a machine, but I think Rossi is going to make him work for a third title. Rossi having fun on a bike is a dangerous thing.
Going to be a good season.

What an awesome season opener!

If Rossi hadn't had that 2nd lap incident I think he could have had something for Lorenzo. The Rossi/Marquez battle was  though...

WOW what a race!! I always thought that Marquez was the new Stoner in outright speed and that maybe Rossi didn't have his speed, but I never doubted his race craft ability. Well, I was wrong...his speed is still VERY amazing. The only guy in the 55s trying to catch the rest of the group...incredible racing.

How awesome that Marquez is racing his hero too? I can't even imagine...

What an awesome race for Marquez!

After that one pass the race was pretty boring. I think I fell asleep 5 or 6 times at the end only to wake up and see the lap counter had only gone down by 1.

I didn't say it was awesome to watch, just that it was awesome for Marquez...

Yeah, wasn't a good race in the stands either. Mainly because I kept watching Spies drop further and further behind :wtc:

Marquez...holy shit. 2nd race and he has a win. Kind of flabberghasted about that - he is now the youngest winner in history. His speed must be destroying Pedrosa's mind...

Yeah, I don't think there is anything normal about MotoGP riders. The fact that their track doctors would even clear them to go and race is a bit shocking. F1 drivers have a sore neck/back and they're benched for precaution, that is, except Webber. He just sucks it up...

...then throws it up all inside his helmet.

I don't recall many F1 drivers being benched for sore backs and necks. A shame if they do...last big shunt I can remember is Kubica in Canada and Checo in 2012 Monaco...but both incidents had concussions.

And I'd expand that list to include all motorcycle racers. From the Isle of Mann to the Irish racing down to the SuperAMA guys. In the documentary "Faster" they touched on Mick Doonahue (I think that's the rider...) who broke both legs in 3 spots each. 6 spots total and they had to throw both legs into one cast just so they would heal each other. A month later, he came back to ride only because he still had a chance at the championship.

Or what about John Hopkins amputating his finger off just so he wouldn't miss the start of a season. :eek3:

Seriously, these guys are a serious awesome throwback but only because they're bat shit insane...

I mean just in the past 2-3 races, Marquez crashed at 200+mph got right back up and kept going... Smith pretty much destroyed his finger that they had to modify his gloves so his swollen hand would fit, Cal riding around with fractures and such...

crazy...

Mick Doohan. Also at Assen...

In late June 1992 Mick Doohan fell at the Assen GP and suffered a savage lower right leg break - spiral fractures of the tibia and fibula. After botched early treatment, amputation was on the cards. It was horrendous.

After rescue and relocation, a radical op performed by Doctor Claudio Costa’s Clinica Mobile saved his legs from being sawn off and speeded up his recovery. Seven weeks after his crash, as weak as a kitten and with his leg withered and useless, Doohan came back to defend what was left of his once imperious 57-point Championship lead at the hideously dangerous Interlagos circuit.

His treatment had included radical surgery, sewing both his legs together and transplanting muscle tissue from his torso to his calves, to help get the dying muscles become oxygenated by the living tissue.

Rossi got Rossi'd at the Corkscrew... loving this season so far, MM/Rossi/Cal are making this season awesome, way better than the parade gentlemans game that was Stoner/Pedro/Lorenzo...

View from my seat...

Cal Crutchlow to be announced as Nicky Hayden's replacement for '14. Seems a risky move IMO, he should have stayed station at Tech3 and waited out Rossi to take the bike alongside Lorenzo. Thoughts?
