$5 says haas goes with Honda - they both need a lot of track time before next season and with the cars being so different, I don't think it'll do much good to drop it in last year's Macca.

Latest rumors I read had him using Ferrari engines and other tech. Although before that I had read that he would be part of Cosworth coming back to the sport, possibly with a manufacturer along to grace the valve-covers.

Renault and Ferrari with both have their "reliabilities" tweaks approved by then. Seriously impressed with Mercedes though - this is twice that they've come out of the box with an dominating engine.

Obviously Chevy needs to join in with Haas for F1, maybe poach ole Tony Stewart. I'd watch the fuck out of that.

The driver's cockpit of Stewart's car would be as wide as the side pods of the RB11.

Not F1 related, but looks like Bridgestone fucked up the tires at CotA this past weekend for motogp. I wouldn't exactly call this blistering...

I love racing, I race myself in my spare time. I spend probably 20 or 22 weekends at the track last year and I attended the 24 hours of Daytona sleeping at the track and trying to learn as much as I could. It's not Formula One, but I love racing, I love continuous improvement, challenging a team to give a better car and get as much as we can from the track.

Axis of Oversteer has an article on how MB powerplants also have a clutched turbo shaft, thereby disconnecting the turbine side when the compressor side is spun up via the electric magic motors. The reduced mass means reduced turbo lag. Brilliant! This is the stuff that F1 should be about - I can really see this coming down to production cars eventually.

A very beautiful F1 themed weather app for you guys:

"Whereas a typical weather app displays visuals of sun or rain to reflect weather conditions, Racing Elements proudly showcases more than 60 years of overtly artistic dry and wet weather Grand Prix racing photography by legendary motorsport photographers Paul-Henri Cahier and his late father Bernard Cahier, both celebrated masters of their field and whose work has been exhibited all over the world.

While Racing Elements offers the functionality of a daily weather app, it additionally includes weather forecasts for race weekends, race schedules, and real-time tweets of pundits and paddock insiders — useful as news updates or as “second screen” insights during televised races."

Cool app.

Big updates planned for Ferrari in Barcelona and the rest of the teams I guess but Ferrari has made a real step up in China. What the hell is wrong with Mclaren these past two years? inb4nohamilton

Between the split turbo and now this clutched turbo, i wonder how long it'll take to trickle down to their car division... more power, less waste, and looking at the fuel rates of the F1 cars, better fuel economy as well... this is probably the biggest advancement F1 has made in a while that might actually effect road cars. KERS/ERRS/Hybrid power might be used in high end super cars, but this turbo tech could be used almost everywhere...
