I think the rotor exploded, because there's a shitload of dust before the tyre goes down...

OMG they just showed onboard of heikki's crash!
it was mechanical failure. left front suspension just went bust.
well I saw the thumbs up when he was on the stretcher. They have him in a neck brace prob for precautions.

That's what I thought too. Although if the rim fails and somehow crushes the rotor, that might cause dust too.
