In all fairness, Trulli and Glock both fucked up, but lucked out in the end. :hsd:

I'm still thrilled though!

I agree. I think I would have enjoyed it even if Toyota hadn't done so well. Maybe it was my imagination, but there did seem to be a lot of passing. :mamoru:

was seriously like demolition derby at the start for him, he seems a bit race rusty but the car is just so fucking fast he cruised up to the back of everyone anyway

Toyota Fail again?
http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/74043

World champion Lewis Hamilton could yet be elevated to third position in the Australian Grand Prix result, after both he and Jarno Trulli were summoned to see the race stewards following an incident in the final safety car period.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh confirmed that the FIA was investigating Trulli after the Toyota driver re-passed Hamilton under safety car conditions, having lost control and run off the circuit.

"There is some debate over whether it is a third place or not at the moment, given that Trulli fell off and re-passed under the safety car," Whitmarsh told the BBC. "But whatever it was a solid result.

"Obviously it relied on a bit of attrition, we know the car is not quick enough yet and we have got to do a lot more work, and we'll be doing that in the coming races."

Whitmarsh added that Hamilton had grounds to believe he could be promoted to a podium position after a strong drive that had seen the world champion fight up from the back of the grid.

"At the end, under the safety car, Trulli fell off onto the grass and Lewis had no choice but to go past him, he was not on the racing circuit," said Whitmarsh.

"Trulli then re-took the place under the safety car, which ordinarily you wouldn't do so I know that the FIA are looking at it at the moment and doubtless we'll have a ruling in due course.

"That's our position at the moment and we will see what happens in the coming hours."

Hamilton admitted to the BBC that he was "very proud" of the team, which has already admitted that the MP4-24 is not fast enough to win races and hadn't expected to finish as high as he did in Melbourne.

"We did the best job we could," he said. It was an incredible job done by the team all weekend. They've all kept their spirits up even though they are off the pace. We stick together, we keep our heads up and we keep going. That result just shows the true spirit of the team, so I am very, very proud. I am very happy with those points."

As much as I'm not a Skittle fan, he got fucked by Kubica. There was nowhere for him to go.

That said, I was cheering for him to drag that left front along all the way to the finish for third.

Additionally, :h5: @ Boobens talking shit about all the diffuser bitching in the press conference.

"If people think our car is only good because of the diffuser, that big hit broke the diffuser completely, so the car was strong," said Barrichello in the press conference.

And :wavey: to both Hammy and the two Toyota drivers for their badass finishes given their starting positions. And fucking Nico (and Kazoo) screwed my backup FF1 teams.

Kubica strengthens douche position he took up midway through last season

Robert Kubica
"What a disappointment! I had a chance to win this race because Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel were on soft tyres and struggling, while I was on the harder compound and was able to drive much quicker. Sebastian went wide in corner one and then he braked early. I was already in front, but he didn’t want to let me by. Then he had a lot of understeer and touched me. My front wing was under the car, therefore I crashed in corner five. I think Sebastian was a bit too optimistic."

"Had this been the last corner okay, but there were still three laps to go and he really had no realistic chance to defend his position because I was so much quicker. We both had a great weekend up to this point and we leave Melbourne with nothing. That’s a real shame! My car was very good, particularly in the second stint when I set the best lap times. That’s racing."

It's official: Hamilton 3rd.

Trulli penalised, Hamilton gets third

By Jonathan Noble Sunday, March 29th 2009, 09:45 GMT

Lewis Hamilton has been promoted to third place at the Australian GP after Jarno Trulli was penalised.

Trulli's third place was put under investigation after the Italian regained his position overtaking Hamilton during a safety car period, having run off the track when the SC was on track.

Both drivers were summoned to see the race stewards following the incident and it was decided to give Trulli a 25-second penalty which moves him outside of the points finish.

Toyota confirmed its intention to appeal the decision.
