Jenson Button in machine-gun ambush: F1 world champion confronted by robbers in Brazil

Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button was confronted by a gang of machine-gun-wielding robbers after racing in Brazil yesterday.
The driver said six men trained their weapons on his car after he left the Interlagos track in Sao Paulo, where he had earlier qualified for today's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Ordeal: Jenson, who was in the car with his father John, was attacked as he left the Interlagos track
Button, 30, was on his way back to his luxury hotel when his bulletproof Mercedes was intercepted in a shanty town at 7pm local time.
His driver – an armed Brazilian policeman hired by the McLaren team – sped away from the scene, striking other cars as he fled. Button said: 'My driver bounced off about five cars. We were driving over the top of them.'
Button, who was also travelling with his father John, his manager Richard Goddard and physio Mike Collier, added: 'We were going back from the track and were outside a shanty town and moving slowly on a busy road.
'I saw a dog come out. It was very cute. The next thing I saw was a man with a gun. Our guy angled the car and floored it.
'That's when we saw six men, all of them brandishing machine-guns. My driver was a legend. It was very scary. I don't know whether they knew who it was they were ambushing. I said, "Isn't that a gun?" and as soon as I said that, the driver angled the car. I am glad I didn't have my girlfriend Jessica with me – she would have been terrified.'

Lucky escape: Button's girlfriend Jessica Michibata was away working
Jessica Michibata, a Japanese-born underwear model, often accompanies Button to races, but she is working this weekend.
In the past, the employees of several Formula 1 teams have been mugged after leaving the Brazilian racetrack.
Button usually drives himself to and from the circuits but on this occasion McLaren insisted he have the armed driver trained in avoidance techniques. McLaren also provided his team-mate Lewis Hamilton with a similar car and driver.
The team are under strict instructions not to wear their uniforms as they travel around the city.
The Interlagos track is in a suburb of Sao Paulo, about four miles from the Morumbi area of the city where Button is staying at the Hilton Hotel.
The star is almost certain to relinquish his world title today, having qualified only in 11th place for the race.
Other cars were damaged in the rush to escape the mayhem – and their drivers followed Button back to his hotel to get his insurance details.

Bad day: Jenson Button suffered both on and off the track

Nothing personal, just everyone I've talked to that has been to that race will not go back because of similar incidences. I've even heard people say that they carry extra money on them because they know they are going to get mugged, FUCK that, I choose not to put myself in situations like that...

SpeedTV guys and the media are such fucking hypocrites. They go apeshit when Massa gives up the spot for Fernando, but they criticize and say RBR are throwing away the WDC for not playing team orders.

Seriously though, I don't understand why they kept going on about how all is lost, etc..

8 point deficit in the new points format is like 3 points in the old format. Theres barely anything in it. In the old system if you were going into the last race down 3 points from the leader that would be considered a pretty damn good position to be in.

The issue is that if Gaybo was within 1pt of the lead he could win and that would be the end of it. Now he needs to win and for skittle to be second, or somebody between him and Fred. RBR are very confident of a 1-2 and if it backfires on them it will be hilarious.
