Well he's not really going senile, but I do however believe he's past the stage to still be racing (considering how often he is involved in accidents, due to his bullish driving tactics).

On top of that, his comments to the media is simply just getting absurd, annoying, and not to mention how NO ONE GIVES A SHIT what he has to say.

Mark Webber's recent comments about his contract talks for 2009 are a "positioning tactic", his Red Bull teammate David Coulthard has deduced.

Both drivers are out of contract at the end of the year, and Australian Webber, who is 31, told reporters in Turkey recently that he has opened talks about a new deal.

"I am free next year but I am massively keen to stay here," he said.

F1 veteran Coulthard, who has failed to contribute to Red Bull's tally of 10 points so far in 2008, noted Webber's comments in his latest column for ITV.

"I can only presume it was either to stimulate talks with the team or to stimulate interest in the rest of the paddock, reminding people that he's on the market," the Scot said.

"I would conclude that it was a positioning tactic rather than anything else."

Coulthard, at 37 the oldest driver on the grid, said he has no intention of making the same sort of declaration about his own negotiations.

"I will keep my own counsel until I have a firm deal to announce," he promised.

Team boss Christian Horner on Monday was quoted as rating the performance of Red Bull's driver lineup in the first quarter of 2008.

"Mark is in the form of his life at the moment and I think he is driving extremely well," he said.

"David has had more than his fair share of bad luck, but he was very much back on form in Istanbul, which is very positive for the team, as we rely heavily on both our drivers bringing back points," Horner added.

bitter old prick...

reminds me of a column on ESPN a while back that talked about all of the great NBA players denied a championship because Jordan was winning them all.

i dont see the point here.

DC is just stating a fact. it's not like he is slagging Webber off or anything.

Webber is probably trying to get his deal signed quicker and for more money while his form is good compared to leaving it and having a bad run later in the season and the team having the upper edge in negotiations.
It also doesn't hurt that Piquet and Heidfield are going pretty poorly and Briatore is Webber's manager.

RedBull vs Renault vs Bmw bidding war?

the problem is that some idiot has given DC a soap box on ITV, so now everytime DC has anything useless to say it's out in the media flooding the many sources for my F1 news intake. He wasn't slagging Webber off, I agree, he was just saying that he's better mannered than Webber.

Honestly I'm just upset because, this was just another one of DC's useless comments that has made it to my F1 news screen due to the idiots out there who are convinced that DC's words are news worthy.

Unfortunately I get the feeling DC will become the next Jackie Stewart (always has a comment regardless of the situation) and stick around in F1 way too long. The major exception is that Stewart actually has interesting comments once in a while, and he's a far greater driver than DC will EVER be.

Quite frankly, the only news I want to hear from DC's camp is that his house burnt down and he was still in it when it burnt to the ground due to a short circuit in the trophy cabinet he built for his World Drivers Championship which he NEVER GOT!

:mamoru: sorry got a little carried away with my rant.

cliffs: DC annoys the crap out of me, and Webbah is GOD next to DC.

im reading Jackie Stewarts book at the moment. (half way through)
i like DC, i think he is very intelligent and has a great sense of humour, style and class.

in the lastest f1racing mag he say's that even if a car is 99.9 percent perfect, with 80,000 parts, that leaves 80 things that are wrong with the car before you start a race. it's a mind blowing fact and DC says that he loves f1 because it is the pinnacle of technology.

if you ask me, Dc is probably just needling Webbo and im sure Mark would have a good laugh with it because its true.

DC is not in the same position and therefore can't manipulate things like Webbah can. DC likes to push buttons for a laugh i think.

he must be one of those people, who you'd have to be friends with to get his jokes/comments.

I use to think he was awesome when he first joined RB, but the last 2 years, he's really started to push my buttons, all the wrong ones too.....

Scots get along with most people..... as long as you're drinking together especially after a game of rugby. (I went to a "british" HS)

I wasn't thinking of Massa in particular, I was thinking more of Wurz in Australia. But the thing is that DC has been in more race ending accidents (mid race) than anyone else (maybe I have selective memory so I'm more than happy to be proved wrong), than I can remember in the last 2 season. And what really grinds my gears, is that he hasn't takes the blame, or even hinted at having made a mistake regardless of the situation. It just seems like he thinks just because he's been in F1 longer, he doesn't make mistakes. That kind of arrogance just annoys me, especially if you're NOT even fighting for points. He implies that he's better and more experienced than all the other drivers. More experienced, I'll give him that, but better, not a chance. He's lost all humility, and senile old fucks are the most annoying kind.

But DC has always admitted when he makes a driving mistake - something that's a bit rare these days in an F1 driver. I don't really have a problem with him. When someone speaks their mind, then they always seem to offend someone...this is just another case of.
