Was rather shocked Mercedes asked Hamilton to let Rosberg through. Good thing he didn't.

All these doom and gloom predictions about how boring things are going to be....
lol
That was a majorly epic race, but I'm pretty sure some of the excitement was because of the rain...having said that, this year's racing has been MUCH better than years past. If we can find whatever made this race as amazing in the dry, let's repeat that!

We've had more interesting races this year, as a whole, than I can remember in a while. And the title fight is still pretty undecided (albeit just between two drivers, they can both realistically win).

Agreed...I mean fixing it more for the drivers to allow them to drive flat-out. I miss seeing drivers going flat out lap after lap. But you know, fuck it...The racing for us is pretty good right now, lol.
As for the F1's declining/TV viewership, I think that has been a cumulative problem that has been building up in F1 for the last few years. The domination of RB, the lack of personality from the drivers coming through, FOM's iron fist over videos on YT and TV rights. Both Lauda and Horner has been making some great comments about how to "fix" F1's lack of marketing...

For the low price of about $120/year I have online access to all previous races, can watch it on my tablet/mobile phone, on-demand viewing for the past 20 years of races, on-board shots of current races, heavy rider/fan promotions at the track, tons of online social media, behind the scenes stuff, etc etc... Bernie hans't caught on to the online world and I think that's severally hurting ratings...
Also letting the riders in GP have a personality and build up a fan base... Rossi redefined what a rider with personality can do and now Marquez is picking up that flag... let the guys do burn outs, let them pull over and have fun with the fan clubs, etc etc... F1 drivers are too restricted on what is "allowed"

I think the FIA/FOM needs to look at what FIM/Dorna are doing with MotoGP/WSBK.

Totally agree and that's pretty much what both Lauda & Horner said this past weekend...Bernie still thinks the internet is a fad
To be fair, F1C said that years ago, lol

I still do not use the twitters. Tried, but I simply just don't give enough of a shit about their personal lives to care about what they are tweetingTotally agree and that's pretty much what both Lauda & Horner said this past weekend...Bernie still thinks the internet is a fad

If there's tire degradation, there's always going to be a 'faster' way to drive that involves strategy.
Again, when we had the mega-durable Bridgestones, you had people like Vettel driving the fastest car for all but one lap (due to regulations) on the super-soft tires with no problems. There's never an awesome showdown to the wire with different tire levels like we had in the last race when you've got those types of tires on the car.
For all the whining about the cars being driven to a delta, resource management has always been a part of F1 in one way or another in most of the exciting times. Schumi on a 3 stop when everyone else was on a 2, having to pull out a gap to not lose out, tires trying to hold on in dying laps of the race, etc.
Personally, I love the strategy element in F1. I love races where you sit there and try to figure out who's going to end up where, check out the guys who are saving their set(s) of softs for a blast at the end of the race on low fuel, etc.
Your points about F1's lack of 'new-media' presence are spot-on, IMO. They're so stuck in the old ways, and monetizing everything possible, that they've missed that the new fans (and old ones) are getting media in a new way. And some of that way is free. At least for the taste....
