So how long before FIA wakes up that Alonso was using DRS outside of the specified zone?
Webber driving his tits off
Its controlled by the FIA themselves and from what I saw it just flipped open/closed in like a second on the run up to the final turn.

One complaint I have about the pirellis is the lack of laying down rubber and instead marbleing up the place. Other than that I love how the tires have different degradation rates and short life spans. Excellent job from that point. No more 50+ laps on the softs

Amazing racing - I can't believe that Webber can get from 18th to 3rd It's nice to see you be able to cut the field up again, it has been awhile since you've seen that in F1. The last time I can remember a race like that was Suzuka when Kimi started from last place and got Fisi on the last lap.
WTH Jens!
that suzuka race ranks as one of my all time favorite races

the latter race, was actually the race that got me into formula 1 when I saw Schumi poking and prodding at that Renault

I think it has more to do with tire degradation than DRS. Look how long Jens was stuck behind Felipe in Malaysia for an example of how hard it is to pass still when tires are equal.Anyone find it disturbing that the leading driver has no ability to DEFEND from the guy in the back? I love what we have right now much better than previous years, but...the rule changes have all been towards an offensive car. Not giving the front guy the ability to open his rear wing while the trailing car has KERS and the open wing almost makes it impossible to defend against the trailing car. I love passing and all, but...we need to fine tune the racing so that it becomes more like this:

Vettel was cooked because he had no KERS and he was on the wrong tires.

Hmm...I'll have to look at that again, I don't recall that fight.
I would've liked more of a defense from Vettel...that would've been quite exciting. It'd put me on the edge of my seat like that Alonso vs Schumi battle from Imola.
I think I'd like the DRS more if it was allowed anywhere. Kind of like the F-duct last year...having "passing" zones mandated by the FIA sounds amateurish to me like a track day. These guys are pros - they should know when/where to deploy the DRS without killing themselves.

correct...wasn't in a corner either.hamilton was not in a DRS zone when he made the pass for p1?

IIRC, none of his moves when he was moving up the field in that last bit was in the DRS zone.hamilton was not in a DRS zone when he made the pass for p1?
Honestly, I think the DRS is getting accolades when it's really the tires/strategy that are bringing more passing about.

What an amazing race. Action packed from front to back green to checkers. Still, the RB7 has so much car advantage that it takes 2 broken KERS, 1 broken radio, and one Q3 screw up for Lewis to win by 3 seconds or whatever.
Here's hoping high summer temps and Super Softs close things up even further.

I was in Tahoe skiing all week so I had to watch the race this morning. It was very hard to avoid any coverage for a week.
I finally got a chance to watch the race today, I've been travelling and showing my gf Taipei. She went back to Bangkok yesterday, and now I am waiting for my orders before I find out if I passed my medical for the army...
