I miss Fernando's awesome mclaren protest beard.

Eh. He cries and whines when he gets beaten. I liked the guy a lot when he was at Renu before, but at McLaren, he just looked like a pummeled little girl against LH. I admit tho, now that he's at Renault again, I quite like him.
i think alonso was the guy who got shit done at mclaren though as far as setting up the car. hamilton just drove.
this season you can see on the tv that he drives harder than anyone. not to mention he makes his teammate look like an amateur. i don't know what happened at mclaren last year but with renault both before and after that he has been very impressive and the fact he took on schumacher in a car that fisichella could only run mid-pack in made an impression on me.
he's one of my favorite drivers right now. i think my fave is trulli though. (if only he wasnt in a cursed toyota )

In 06 and then in 07 he whined constantly whenever he wasn't winning every race. Now that he's back in the expectation-free Renault (after a terrible year for that team) he seems better.
Of course, it could just be that not as many people are reporting on him.

I agree -- when he beat MS at Imola being pressured like that, I was like His pass at 130R was just...greatness. No fear...
And he def got his shit setup well, but he still whines a lot when he's losing to his team-mate. When Fisi beat him on worn tires, and he came out and said "he felt alone" was a clear crack in his mental facade. The fact that when he started to get challenged by a rookie team-mate, instead of stepping up his game, he faltered and looked totally owned in races like Canada, doesn't impress me much at all.
I dunno...Things like that, puts a big "I like him...BUT" for me in my book.

Kimi is in no way superior to Alonso.
Not so much mental strength, but more like Kimi's ability to just not give a shit about public opinion, that would be awesome!

as long as you don't stand on his bag, there is no way to fluster kimi.

I chuckled.
But yeah, Kimi's mental "I don't give a shit" is pretty amazing. I think that's why we have man crushes on KR...well, I do anyways.
Even tho he's not exactly who I would use as a role-model

It's just such a cool attitude to have towards life.
He has 1 job to do and that is win, so he goes out there and he tries to win.
when he doesn't win, he shrugs it off and tries again in 2 weeks time.
that's like the streamline mentality for any athlete, 100% on the field, 0% off it. Leave it all on the field, no regrets.

I felt bad for him crashing out this year in Canada though.

I dislike him less now, but all his whining in the past means I'm not a fan. But then I'm a such a huge Schumi nut hugger, my perspective might not be totally unbiased.
I felt bad for him crashing out this year in Canada though.
At least he was doing something right. Also, he went up against the British media (and Hamilton for that fact) anyone gets mad props from me for that.
