More than being surprised,  I feel really old.

Doesn't feel that long, but the guy has been at Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, Renault. Has definitely been a long career and a shame only two chips to show for all that work.

Lewis on the other hand seemed like he could shit chips out the last few years given the Merc advantage, yet he still lost to Rosberg last year.

Red Bull's talent pool is deep if they can just let Sainz go like that...geez.

Sainz is a pretty big talent in my opinion and in the right car, could be a WDC.  Definitely not a WDC in a McLaren tho :(

Some more info in the article:
Racing Point is actually the name of the company that bought Force India. The name Force India had to remain in the new name of the team because it's attached to the chassis. Next year the team will probably have a completely new name. Lawrence Stroll has promised that the team will not become a Mercedes B-team. In order for Stroll to move to Force India, Ocon needs to move to McLaren, which can only happen if Vandoorne's contract is bought out. Lawrence Stroll would need to do this, and Monza is likely too soon for that to happen, Singapore seems more likely now. Force India itself prefers to finish the season with Ocon & Perez, in order to get as much points as possible to overtake Williams, Sauber & Toro Rosso in the constructors standings for more prize money.

Vandoorne and Grosjean are in a difficult situation for next season, Leclerc is likely to go to Haas, with Giovinazzi taking his seat at Sauber. Dmitry Mazepin seems to replace Lawrence Stroll as investor at Williams, however, his son Nikita doesn't have enough super license points to become a driver at Williams. This opens up the opportunity for George Russell (Mercedes junior driver) to possibly go to Williams. Toro Rosso's seats for next season are also open. There was talk of a trade between Mclaren and Red Bull with Key & Norris, but Red Bull doesn't want to negotiate with McLaren. According to Toro Rosso Vergne is not a candidate for their seats. Due to a lack of alternatives, Hartley could retain his seat.

We've gone from pay drivers to "daddy buying portions of the team" pay drivers?  Jesus, this doesn't seem terribly sustainable.

If you catch me agreeing with cheeto benito (H1B visas) or hambone (pay drivers), the situation is officially wheels off.

I think I stopped watching the race when Mercedes kept Lewis out for 8 laps longer than Kimi... it was pretty much all over then.

:werd: though 9 out of 10 times in that clash i would have expected the car on the outside to be the spinning vehicle.

Yeah, I blame that loss on Ferrari pitting Kimi too soon...  I really HATE 1 stop strategies, it's too much tyre management and not enough racing...  I wish more teams would do what Alonso did a few years ago at Ferrari and go out and just push like mad to make a 2 stop work while everyone else was conserving their tyres...

Kimi to Sauber
Leclerc to Ferrari

Surprised Kimi didn't just retire at this point. What is he going to prove at Sauber? His contract w Ferrari was already year to year so it wasn't like they kept him on in the family to satisfy some contractual obligation.

Happy for Leclerc as he's going to learn a lot more from Seb than anyone he'd be teamed up with at Alfa, but that's some big shoes to fill for a novice driver.

Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen to LeClerc that happened to Waffles.  It's a shame really...pair them against the best and expect them to perform just as well?  I don't care how strong you are as a young driver...being put up against vets that have their mental head game on strong like Hamilton/Alonso/Vettel is a tall order.

Also, not sure why Kimi went to Sauber...would be better to retire on top then to drive around in a 2nd class car...

Sauber and Haas with Ferrari power have done externally well. Hoping he pulls a Lotus and starts to bother Red Bull and podium. Might be fun.

He's probably not ready to retire, and he did have that hiatus/furlow, so I'm guessing he fully understands that a jr. seat in the big show is better than a big seat in the jr. show.

Okay...he might be pretty good.  That was pretty amazing to watch, lol.  No wonder Ferrari wants him so badly...
