Had to watch the race in Japanese so I just muted it. What was the reason nico got away with straightlinig the chicane? Seems to me he should have given that position up to Hamilton.

he got a final warning for it

He got a warning for it, two reasons why:
- he didn't gain a position advantage, even though he got some distance between him and Lewis, they didn't see it as gaining a place
- another driver did the same short cut earlier while battling with Kimi, but they never did anything about it, so they had their hands tied on the punishment. Can't punish Nico, but not the other guy, and it was already to late, too much time passed.

IMO he gained a position, because if he hadnt blown the chicane or actually tried to get back to the racing line asap instead of accelerating through the runoff, he would have crossed the line P2.

3rd reason also given was that because Hamilton was not directly attacking Nico at that stage of the race; he was mearly behind him. Had he been attacking for position, he would've had to given it up. What they didn't like was Nico giving the full throttle after cutting the chicane. Great awareness by Nico to avoid the speed bump tho...

Why would you put a poll like that on your website, is this kindergarten? Reminds me of Trulli photos.

Was Perez's fault. But Felipe Massa should have done a better job of the hairpin on all those laps to make better use of the DRS on the straight.

Nico was rather naughty when he straightlined that chicane - instead of losing a place he got out of DRS range, forcing Hamilton to work very hard to get back within striking range. The extra effort Hamilton had to do would have contributed to his brake failure.
