Why not? It's the time when the cars are pushed to the absolute limit. A good stress test IMO. Of course a race simulation is also needed, but the guys usually aren't pushing for the entire race

I thought Merc was already doing race sims back at the first test.

They must be really confident if they don't care about other teams knowing how fast they can go

They're within a second of pole time for last year. I'm impressed...less aero, smaller motor, less gas and it's now only 1sec off pace? F1 wow.

I don't understand why they don't just give the teams a hot tire for Q3 and make them start the race with the tires they ran in Q2.
