Wow, what a race!  Happy for Seb to see him happy again - and he's doing great.

Hamilton's starting to show cracks in his armor...this is turning out to be a better season than I had anticipated!

Gasly deserves a much better drive than he's in now.

What a crazy ending, I was bummed that Max lost the lead, but then the brake lockup, and boom, right back where we started... with Perez and Vettel on the podium... WHAT??!

Also, when is the last time Mercedes had a non-score race weekend... or better yet, a non-score on a race weekend when both cars finished the race? Has that ever happened?

Last non score I can think of is Spain one year when Rosberg and Hamilton wiped out on the 1st lap

Crazy race, and those last couple laps are what F1 needs throughout the races...  Make 2 stop races mandatory so there is much less tire saving, and the last stop must be made in the last 10-15 laps of the race...

And for the 2nd part of my question, looks like 2012 :eek3:

the first time since the 2012 United States Grand Prix that the team finished outside of the points when both its drivers took the chequered flag.

At some point you'd be pushing from one limit (tire) to another (fuel). Max fuel limit would need to go away too IMO.

Anyway, looking forward to the Sprint race experiment

Saw a twitter post along the lines of

Toto: Bottas was centimeters out of place in the pit, partially his fault the tire got stuck, he should do better

Toto: Lewis accidentally hit the wrong button, it happens

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous to put any blame related to the stuck wheel on Bottas

Pulling a page from the old Ferrari playbook. This whole thing still doesn't mitigate the highest risk part of a pit stop, the unsafe release. Stupid and unnecessary rule

I was wrong, the highest risk part of a pitstop is leaving the box.

That could have been so much worse if he hit the mclaren pit crew during his spin.

Meh... just take the approach that LeMans takes... no wheel spin on the way out, if the pit crew can perform their tasks quickly and no one is at risk of injury due to the speed of the task they are doing... not sure why they'd want to slow stuff down. Slower teams should just practice more...

When was the last time someone got injured because they put the wheel on too fast or dropped the car too fast. It's the drivers that are running over people, and that's not down to the people working on the car...
